After taking it out of the box, Cassandra securely fastened one of the reusable tips onto the end. After gently inserting it into her ear, she twisted the device a few times in a clockwise direction and then took the Tvidler out.
"There were remnants of ear wax spiraled all through the tip," Cassandra explains. "I was shocked to see how much had been removed, especially since the doctor had just done a thorough cleaning a few days earlier. I was a bit concerned at first, at just how soft the tip was; I wasn’t sure that it was going to work."
After removing the wax, the tip was run under the tap, and all of the ear wax was quickly and easily washed away.

The Tvidler Ear Wax Cleaner tips are made from high-grade silicone and are long-lasting. You can finally say goodbye to Q-Tips and hello to an environmentally friendly solution that was made to last. The spiral design of the Tvidler tips gently removes all of the excess ear wax in the ear canal, preventing compaction and lowering the number of expensive visits to the doctor’s office.
Other ear cleaning methods can be highly messy or hazardous to use. Ear drops are a common technique to rid the ear canals of excess wax, but it can be uncomfortable to pour a liquid into your ear and can be challenging to do without the assistance of someone else. Also, when the fluid comes out of your ear, carrying with it the ear wax, it can be messy to clean up, leaving your hair and clothing dirty as well.

When my husband and I would watch T.V. together, I couldn’t hear a thing that was being said. It started out that I would have to turn up the volume, bit by bit, to hear the show we were watching, but it quickly got to the point where I wasn’t able to hear a thing at all. At least not without cranking the volume all the way to maximum. This would upset my husband and wake up the kids if they were sleeping."
Eventually, Cassandra had no choice but to give up watching T.V. She would resign to her bedroom early each evening, alone and defeated. Her hearing, which had once been perfect, had quickly been diminished to nothing, and her quality of life was deteriorating fast.

Until a doctor is able to determine the cause of your dry mouth, experts say there are several things you can do to minimize the impact on your life. First, be sure to stay hydrated by taking sips of water throughout the day. The Mayo Clinic also recommends switching to non-alcohol based mouthwash, using lip balm generously, limiting your caffeine intake, quitting smoking, and investing in a humidifier. You may be able to stimulate the production of saliva by chewing sugar-free gum and trying over-the-counter saliva substitutes, according to the health authority.

Those with diabetes suffer from an imbalance in glucose levels. When excess glucose enters your bloodstream and saliva, you become "more susceptible to dry mouth and [oral] yeast infections," says a U.K. based network for those with diabetes.

To make matters worse, many diabetes patients experience the related symptom of extreme thirst, making their mouths feel that much dryer. Additionally, certain medications prescribed to treat diabetes may come with side effects that exacerbate the problem.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, one of the most common symptoms of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is xerostomia, or dry mouth. This occurs when there is a lack of saliva in the mouth, leading to irritation of the lips, corners of the mouth, gums, and tongue. Additionally, those with xerostomia may develop painful sores in the mouth, or infections in the oral cavity, reports Healthline. The lack of moisture can lead to difficulty swallowing, talking, or chewing.

Though anyone may experience dry mouth from time to time, research has shown that it happens more frequently in those with diabetes. A 2016 study published in the Journal of Diabetes Research found that diabetes "is probably the most frequent metabolic disease with salivary implications, due to its high frequency." In fact, that team acknowledged separate research which concluded that 45 percent of those with diabetes experienced hyposalivation, compared with 2.5 percent of the control group.
