CONSTRUCTION WITH LIMITED RESOURCES
World over, people have plans of setting up their own homes but majority fail to meet this dream due to limited resources and financial problems. But in this article, we shall try to show you how you can use your limited resources and set up something good for yourself in this tough and competitive economy.
1.) Choice of building plan:
When choosing a building plan well known that you are limited by resources, try to go for simple plans with few corners and walls to build. Complex plans with a lot corners and walls require alittle more materials and labour as compared to the latter.
2.) Heart vs pocket
When deciding on the size and shape of your desired house design, follow more of your pocket than your heart. When you follow more of your heart well known that you are limited by resources, you will end starting a big house which you can not complete even if given 20yrs of continous saving yet you can use the same resources and set up a medium sized house which you can complete in at most 5yrs. Haven't you seen houses which were started when you were still a kid and upto now thy are still at the same level when the owners are not yet dead.....?
3.) Materials choices.
Different materials will always have differrnt costs implications. If your pocket can afford material A, then why go for material B because you saw it being used somewhere...? You may have the resources to buy them but may be too expensive for you labourwise in installation and maintenance....? Get a technical person, pay them off if its required but let them guide you through the material requirements for each specific level, generate ideas and options, compare the possible cost implications for each option and then make the best choice out of it based on your financial capacity.
4.) Phase out the project.
Not every body can manage to start and build up to full furnish without breaking off. Don't hung your self if you can't, just do it in phases. Foundation, wall, roofing and so on untill you start sleeping there.
5.) Hear says.....
Don't go by the hear says, go by the technical people's say. Technical people will always give you the best advice in every field. Get a plumber, electrician, architect, surveyor, engineer etc.. Let them advise and guide you. I hope we are now good to go.
