"A date which will live in infamy" President Roosevelt, said of the surprise attack on the Pacific Naval fleet and airplanes that crippled the US military. (Dec 8, 1941)

Sadly, it was also the day that the US declared war and entered the battles of World War II.
In Pearl Harbor that day 2403 servicemen/women and civilians perished and many more injured.

Many lessons can be gleaned and a reason to remember.

We commemorate both this awful day of loss, but it also represents a nod to the US's people in an era led by sacrifice and determination.

Not only did our services engage in deployments and battles, so did our native land and citizens through rations and working in factories that turned from producing household goods to creating much needed supplies to support our troops.

My grandfather would tell only of funny stories he encountered and memories of the 6 of 8 brothers his family lost.
However, he would not speak of much else in the atrocities he saw and experienced.

My grandmother gave accounts of the changes here at home that occurred and the melting of our country into a single focus.

We dedicate today to those men and women who not only served here and abroad and then worked to help rebuild a great nation and to help the embattled countries as well to grow and heal from the ordeal of war.

We saw a glimpse of such focus on September 11, 2001, when terror struck on homeland.

With the holidays coming it's fitting that December has been designated Toy Safety and Gift month.

It reminds us to be diligent to check ages, stages, and do some homework on the latest gadget, gizmo, and trending "got to have" gifts that enter the market as the holiday gift buying gears up.

Our first priority beyond all else...

SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN
..and it’s easy to get sucked into the vacuum of the season and all the busyness that prevents us from investigating a product including if an item
> was imploding or
> short-circuiting or
> lasted all of 5 minutes and its dead or
> really was not water-resistant, as the package suggests
> you have seen it all

Each year on December 3, the U.S. celebrates a very special day — National Roof Over Your Head Day.

Perspective!

National Roof Over Your Head Day asks us to give thanks for what we have, beginning with the roof over our heads, particularly because many other people lack this basic necessity.

This day is a lovely reminder to be content with our lot and avoid worrying about things we do not yet have.

Having Gratitude opens up our capacity to really move forward. Great way to start the countdown to 2023, don't you think?
