There’s always a bit of a color dilemma when rebacking a book, to match the spine or the cover, or in this case, the color of the damaged leather or the color of the original covering. I don’t like to add color to original material so I usually try to match it as well as I can to the bordering colors. Sometimes that means inpainting after the new spine has been added to achieve a happy medium. iamabookbinder
