When it comes to Ward’s Country Store, we strive to support anyone and everyone we can whether it be a teammate or within the community. This support includes being inclusive within the work center amongst our team members as well our customers. One of the many causes that we proudly support is the LGBTQ+ community. Though both founders of the company, both retired military, were faced with the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy while serving in the U.S. military, they both have proudly supported the cause of LGBTQ+ community. This same concept and principle are followed amongst the team as we introduce LGBTQ+ support groups amongst our Human Resources Team and staff. This concept consists of educating our staff members and leaders to ensure they understand the LGBTQ+ community as well properly addressing our allies. This step is in response to many LGBTQ+ people still facing substantial barriers to full inclusion within the work center as documented by the Human Rights Campaign. One of the organizations that the Ward’s proudly support and volunteer with is the PFLAG organization which is the first and largest organization for le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, and q***r (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies. Though June is declared LGBTQ+ Pride Month, we proudly support our allies every month in whatever way we can whether it’s within the work center or volunteering with organizations that support the cause. Above all, we here at Ward’s Country Store have a zero tolerance for any form of discrimination against our allies and will stand with them no matter what. We hope that we as a community can come together to support our allies in any way we can.
