I’m laying in bed with my babies, as I often do, 🥰 on the eve of Sadie’s first day of second grade, and i can’t help but feel sad that summer is over. It came to a screeching halt, yes? Last year, we enjoyed a 6-month “summer” at home, and that was really a gift now that I think about it.

The girls are going to new schools this year and I’m so nervous about it. I don’t know a single thing about how it’s going to work out and every bit of it is unfamiliar — a feeling that I would rate zero stars.

Bottom line: I would much rather be at the beach.

Prepping for back to school. ✏️🍎 📚 Not wishing summer away AT ALL but my oldest starts school in 3 weeks. 😭 It went way too fast and I don’t feel like we got to spend nearly enough time together. They spend four weeks away from me (2 weeks in June and 2 weeks in July), which has felt like an eternity this year.

In other news, I bought my first water hose and sprinkler and that feels strange. Now what do I do? How often are you supposed to water your grass anyway? I am aware that this is the absolute most first world problem that ever existed ... but I don’t know how else to say it: this is the first time I’ve lived in a house without sprinklers and I am pitiful but super don’t want my grass to die. 🆘

I am asked often if I am still singing anywhere. The answer is - Yes! I still sing ... But not like I used to.

20 years ago, it was all I could think about. Literally went to school in Nashville (Music City) with big music biz dreams. By the time I graduated, I knew that performing was not for me. I was grateful for any and every opportunity to be on a stage of any size, but I did not have the passion or energy to forge a path for myself in that business.

In my mid-20s, I wrestled hard with my future and God’s calling on my life, trying to make sense of the winding road I was traveling... including a battle with cancer at 23.

In God’s gentle and providential way, He helped me discover what I was actually passionate about — people. In a series of “next right things” I stumbled into my career, using my gifts (music) and passion (people) to make a living— and even better — an impact.

So, yes ... I am and will always be a singer, but my life looks SO different than I thought I would 20 years ago! And I’m so not mad about it. 😉
