When a builder who has been framing houses for thirty years tells us the products he buys from us are among the biggest changes of his career, that's feedback we hold onto. He described how it used to go: you wrapped it, taped it, and waited to find out if you got it right.

That's the gap we've spent decades closing. The products we manufacture have reached the point where they've stopped being something he thinks about on the jobsite, which for a building product is the highest compliment there is. We set it on fire, on purpose. RoyOMartin's forestry team conducts a prescribed burn near our Oakdale OSB facility, and there's a lot more to it than meets the eye.

Controlled burns are one of the most powerful tools in sustainable forest management. By intentionally burning the understory, we reduce the buildup of dry fuel that feeds destructive wildfires. Less fuel on the ground means a less intense fire if one ever breaks out naturally, protecting our mill, our timber, and the surrounding land.

But wildfire prevention is just one piece. These burns also suppress competing hardwood growth, giving our pine stands room to thrive. Over time, repeated burns create a healthy, open savanna-like forest, the kind that's more resilient, more productive, and more beautiful.
Every burn is carefully planned around wind direction, smoke transport, and mixing height to protect nearby roads and communities.

Nothing is left to chance.
