The “old school” wood classroom doors at this Michigan school are much more secure now that we installed LLumar 13 mil clear security film on the windows and reinforced their frames with metal. We even had the Dow Corning 995 structural silicone custom made to match the color of the wood! “Invisible Protection” - Shatterproof!

Here are a few photos of school entrances that we have protected with the Pentagon Z-Lok rubber frame attachment system. In many cases the removable metal trim that holds the glass into the door frames is not strong enough to withstand a kick or other type of forced entry attack. In these situations using standard wet glaze structural silicone/adhesive to secure the reinforced glass to the removible door trim would not be an effective, proper, or secure way of attaching the security film and glass to the door frame. The Z-Lok rubber attachment system has 3M VHB adhesive and attaches the security filmed glass over the removible trim and to the solid part of the door frame. It is designed to stretch and absorb the energy of impacts and hold the door glass in place. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims and the family members of the victims of the horrific school shooting in Nashville this week. This video is especially frustrating for us to watch because we spend a lot of time fortifying the windows and doors in schools. We feel the need to ask all parents and school administrators to please use the surveillance footage captured by this security camera to re-evaluate which type of security products can actually make a difference and protect people during a real life active shooter event like this one. At a fraction of the cost of installing a video survalence system, even one layer of our LLumar 13 mil security window film with a frame attachment system can delay or deter forced entry into a building for up to 1 minute and 30 seconds. We laminated 180 windows with clear safety & security window film at this Michigan social services organization. We installed LLumar SCL SR PS8 on the interior of the glass and SHE CL ER PS7 on the exterior of the glass because it is made differently from interior films in order to withstand exterior weather elements. We also custom color matched the Dow Corning 995 wet glaze structural silicone frame attachment to match the window frames perfectly.

Here are a few photos of what we call an “emergency job”. The brand new and freshly finished Hampton Inn & Suites in Ypsilanti could not get their certificate of occupancy and open to the public because the 90 mirrors that were installed in the building were mounted on sliding doors and located too close to the floor to meet human impact safety code requirements for glass. The owner called Shatterproof for a consultation and we installed LLumar SCL SR PS7 clear 7 mil safety film on one of the mirrors as a demo because they found it hard to believe that the film would be invisible if it were installed on a mirror. The city also wanted to inspect one finished mirror in order to approve the installation. Both were very impressed! We submitted LLumar safety film technical info and specifications to the city and they approved the installation. We installed the film on all 90 mirrors in just a few days and the city issued a certificate of occupancy to the establishment so they could open for business!
