The “old school” wood classroom doors at this Michigan school are much more secure now that we installed LLumar 13 mil clear security film on the windows and reinforced their frames with metal. Here are a few photos of school entrances that we have protected with the Pentagon Z-Lok rubber frame attachment system. In many cases the removable metal trim that holds the glass into the door frames is not strong enough to withstand a kick or other type of forced entry attack. In these situations using standard wet glaze structural silicone/adhesive to secure the reinforced glass to the removible door trim would not be an effective, proper, or secure way of attaching the security film and glass to the door frame. The Z-Lok rubber attachment system has 3M VHB adhesive and attaches the security filmed glass over the removible trim and to the solid part of the door frame. It is designed to stretch and absorb the energy of impacts and hold the door glass in place. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims and the family members of the victims of the horrific school shooting in Nashville this week. This video is especially frustrating for us to watch because we spend a lot of time fortifying the windows and doors in schools. We feel the need to ask all parents and school administrators to please use the surveillance footage captured by this security camera to re-evaluate which type of security products can actually make a difference and protect people during a real life active shooter event like this one. At a fraction of the cost of installing a video survalence system, even one layer of our LLumar 13 mil security window film with a frame attachment system can delay or deter forced entry into a building for up to 1 minute and 30 seconds.
