Once a year, we got to dump it out, count every coin, and take home a portion as a gift. It seemed small at the time, but looking back, I realize:

My granddaddy was a quiet man, but his actions spoke volumes.
He had a big glass jar where he saved every quarter and coin that came his way.

Anyone who knows me knows that 𝗜 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. I still pick and choose whether I’m going out at least partly based on the forecast.

So when I was in Zurich and saw how cold it was, I almost stayed in.

I sat there thinking, Do I really want to go out in this cold? What if I’m miserable the whole time?

I could’ve easily talked myself out of it. But instead, I bundled up, wrapped my toes, and went to the Christmas Market.

𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿.

The food? Amazing. The lights? Magical. The experience? Worth every layer of clothing I had on.

And it made me think—𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀?

I used to do that all the time. Waiting until I had every little detail figured out before making a move.

But here’s what I’ve learned: 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

You don’t get answers by sitting still—you get them by doing.

If you wait until everything is perfect, you’ll still be waiting years from now.
