Acquired this clean 1998 XL1200S Sportster Sport with dual spark plug heads and original suspension as part of the collection. The bike is close to being original and needs maintenance.

We took the 1989 sportster to my house at the time and started checking the bike over to see how we can get it running.

The bike would not start very easy and found that this bike still had the original intake manifold which back then in the very first early days of the EVO sportsters they had rubber as material which was quickly change to cast aluminum. It was cracked leaking in unfiltered air causing it to not idle the engine.

Shortly after getting the bike drivable, we were just moving the bike inside the garage and the gears engaged on its own. The bike would not stay in neutral discovering the Shift Cam Follower made of cast aluminum had disintegrated over time.

Found a replacement piece made of quality steel.
