Business owners, here is a term worth knowing:

Effective rate.

Your effective rate is the percentage of your total card sales that you are actually paying in processing fees.

For example, if you processed $50,000 and paid $1,750 in total fees, your effective rate would be 3.5%.

That one number can tell a much clearer story than looking at one advertised rate.

A lot of businesses think they are paying one thing, but their full statement tells another story.

A big part of what I do is simple:
