ADDITIONAL RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW HEADED FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TONIGHT AND MONDAY🌧️ ❄️Southern California is not finished with the unsettled weather just yet - which is good news for Los Angeles, and possibly parts of Ventura Counties, which missed out on the heaviest of Rachel's moisture! Following the departure of Tropical Storm Rachel, another upper-level storm system will move into the region tonight and Monday, bringing another round of showers, isolated storms and even some early-season mountain snow.

Across Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, scattered showers will develop and expand tonight as a sharp upper-level trough approaches California. Rain will continue into Monday, with the potential for embedded heavier showers and isolated thunderstorms as the system moves through. Rainfall totals of 0.10-0.25 inches are possible across coastal areas and valleys, with locally higher amounts of 0.25-0.50 inches, particularly around Los Angeles County and the nearby mountains. Isolated locations could receive more beneath heavier showers or storms.

Farther south, San Diego, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties will also see increasing shower activity late tonight into Monday. The approaching trough will provide additional lift and instability, supporting scattered showers and isolated storms. Rain will generally remain below 0.25 inches across coastal and valley communities, although locally higher amounts are possible along the coastal slopes and foothills. Desert communities will generally see lighter rainfall, but a few showers or storms could develop.

MOUNTAIN SNOW IS ALSO IN THE FORECAST. As the upper-level system moves overhead, snow levels are expected to fall to around 8,000 feet late tonight into Monday. The highest elevations of the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains could pick up a few inches of snowfall, while the higher peaks of the mountains surrounding Los Angeles may also see light accumulations. Snowfall amounts will depend heavily on elevation and where the more persistent precipitation develops.

The greatest coverage of rain and mountain snow is expected late tonight through Monday, with some lingering showers possible into early Tuesday as the system gradually exits the region. Conditions should begin improving Tuesday, followed by a drier weather pattern during the middle of the week🌧️ ❄️

COLD NIGHT AHEAD FOR WASHINGTON AND OREGON | FROST ADVISORIES AND FREEZE WARNINGS IN EFFECT🥶some of the coldest temps of the fall season so far are expected tonight into Monday morning across Washington and Oregon. Clearing skies, light winds and a chilly air mass will allow temps to fall into the 30s across much of the region, with upper 20s possible in colder valleys.

Across western Washington, Frost Advisories cover parts of Puget Sound, including Tacoma, Olympia, Kent, Renton and surrounding areas. Overnight lows of 30-36°F could produce widespread frost, especially outside urban areas, away from waters.

For western Oregon, Frost Advisories include parts of the Willamette Valley, Portland Metro, Eugene, Salem, Vancouver [SW WA] and surrounding areas. Temperatures could fall into the lower to middle 30s, with freezing conditions possible in colder valleys.

In central and eastern Washington, Freeze Warnings cover the Yakima and Kittitas valleys, where temps fall to 29-31°F. Spokane and surrounding areas will also experience chilly conditions, with an even colder night possible Monday night.

For central, eastern and southern Oregon, frost and freezing tempss are expected across several valleys, including parts of the Rogue Valley, central Oregon and northeast Oregon. Some colder locations could fall into the 20s, especially Monday night into Tuesday morning.

PROTECT SENSITIVE PLANTS! Frost and freezing temperatures could damage vulnerable vegetation. Additional cold alerts may be needed Monday night before a warming trend develops later this week🥶
