BREAKING: GULF TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT INCREASING🌀⚠️Invest 97L is becoming better organized over the northern Gulf, currently centered about 125 miles south of the southeastern Louisiana coast. Satellite imagery and recent wind data indicate the area of low pressure has become better organized since yesterday. Additional development is possible as the system slowly tracks west-northwest, and a short-lived tropical depression or tropical storm could form before reaching the Upper Texas or southwestern Louisiana coast Tuesday or Tuesday night. The National Hurricane Center has increased development chances to 50% over the next 48 hours. Interests along the Louisiana and Upper Texas coasts should closely monitor Invest 97L over the next couple of days. Regardless of whether a named tropical system develops, locally heavy rainfall is possible across portions of southwestern Louisiana and the Upper Texas coast🌀⚠️

DANGEROUS FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST TODAY⚠️⛈️🌊dangerous flash flooding is expected across parts of Arizona, Utah and Colorado today, with much of the region currently under a Flood Watch. Thunderstorms will be capable of producing torrential rainfall, with localized amounts of 1-3 inches possible. This amount of rain can fall very quickly and could lead to significant flash flooding, especially in normally dry washes, slot canyons, burn scars, low-water crossings and other flood-prone areas. Flooding can develop rapidly with little warning. Never attempt to drive across a flooded roadway, and those recreating outdoors should remain especially alert to changing weather conditions⚠️⛈️🌊

Arizona and Utah may have some problems.

SOUTHWEST FLOOD RISK THIS WEEKEND⚠️a significant increase in monsoon thunderstorm activity is expected across Arizona and Utah, extending into parts of Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado this weekend, bringing a growing risk of flash flooding from Saturday into Sunday. Deep monsoonal moisture will surge northward as high pressure shifts east and a trough moves through the western U.S. In southern and southeastern Arizona, atmospheric moisture is expected to become quite high, with precipitable water values reaching 1.3-1.7 inches. Some thunderstorms could produce extremely heavy rainfall rates of 1-3 inches per hour. One important concern is that thunderstorms may continue well into the overnight hours Saturday and Sunday, rather than quickly fading after sunset. Repeated rounds of storms and the potential for training thunderstorms could result in locally significant rainfall. The greatest flood concerns will be around burn scars, slot canyons, normally dry washes, low-water crossings, urban areas and other flood-prone locations. Rivers, creeks and streams could also rise quickly. This will not be an all-day washout everywhere, but where thunderstorms repeatedly track over the same locations, rainfall totals could add up very quickly. Anyone hiking, camping or traveling through flood-prone terrain across Arizona and Utah this weekend should closely monitor conditions⚠️
