LYL Productions is casting all principal and supporting roles for its upcoming original comedy TV series, The Burgers.
Logline: A Boston family of five known as The Burgers, navigates parenting, work, and chaos—loud, messy, and always hilarious.
Production starts: August 2026 – Winter 2026
Location: Nashville, TN

Donny Rettlesberger
Male | Caucasian | Age 40–50 |
Donny is a chubby, Bostonian, blue-collar working man. The lovable, overconfident patriarch of the family. Donny works construction and lives for the Patriots and beer. He wants to be the “man of the house” but often misjudges situations, creating chaos that only he seems unaware of. Donny is proud, affectionate, and well-meaning, but his attempts to solve problems usually make them worse. Comic situations come from his misplaced confidence, public embarrassment, and chaotic problem-solving, while his heart and loyalty to his family are never in question.
Shiloh Rettlesberger
Female | Caucasian | Age 40–50 |
Shiloh is the family’s backbone, a slim, fearless mother who keeps the household running while juggling constant chaos. Sharp, witty, and pragmatic, she’s not your typical sitcom mom—she’s badass, resourceful, and morally flexible when life demands it. She can deliver physical comedy, sarcastic one-liners, and heartfelt moments with equal skill. Shiloh often mediates between Donny and the kids, balancing humor and discipline, and is the emotional anchor of the Rettlesbergers.
Savannah Rettlesberger
Female | Caucasian | Age 15–21
Savannah is the oldest child and social powerhouse of the family. Dramatic, clever, and self-aware, she is frequently embarrassed by her family but deeply protective of them. She navigates teenage romance, school life, and social pressures with humor and savvy, often pointing out the absurdity of her parents’ antics. Savannah’s storylines explore growing pains, sibling rivalry, and her desire to be seen as mature while still needing family support.
Jed Rettlesberger
Male | Caucasian | Age 12–16
The middle child, Jed is mischievous, sarcastic, and endlessly scheming. Convinced he’s overlooked, he constantly seeks attention and shortcuts to recognition. His schemes are loud, often backfire, and generate comedic tension, but underneath the chaos, Jed is loyal and caring. He delivers humor through rebellion, sibling rivalry, and the occasional painfully honest observation about his family’s quirks.
Maisie Rettlesberger
Female | African American | Age 5–10 |
Maisie is the youngest child, adopted from foster care. Observant, clever, and disarmingly honest, she notices patterns and contradictions that the adults miss. Maisie exposes family absurdities with innocence and clarity, offering comedic and emotional insights beyond her years. She’s confident, witty, and at times the emotional compass of the family, often forcing her parents and siblings to confront truths they’d rather ignore.
Uncle Buck
Male | Caucasian | Age 40–50 |
Bostonian and blue-collar,
Donny’s brother and construction co-worker, Uncle Buck, is loud, impulsive, and unapologetically Boston. He undermines authority while charming everyone, creating chaos wherever he goes. Buck’s humor comes from his unpredictability, his love for his family, and his inability to take anything seriously—even when he should.
Mrs. E
Female | Any ethnicity | Age 60+
Eccentric, forgetful, and unexpectedly sharp, Mrs. E is the neighborhood’s comic relief and occasional voice of wisdom. Her antics bring levity to tense situations, and she often surprises the family with her insight, challenging them in ways that only a neighbor with decades of life experience could.
