Laura Gr$$n's Grant Writing Tip #4: Write the first draft of your project narrative quickly, relative to the type of funding proposal you're writing. This might take a couple of days for a foundation grant or maybe a week for a federal grant. So how do you write quickly? Don't stop to look up statistics and data. Stay focused on the points required or elements of the review criteria before jumping off the page to track down supporting data, numbers, dates, etc.

There's nothing scarier than thinking you've missed a deadline or even actually missing a deadline, whether a grant submission or a required report to a grantor. So, create a calendar, set reminders, schedule notifications, put post-it notes on your wall; do whatever you need to make sure you submit on time; better yet, submit a week before the deadline.
