There are 4 steps to stop micromanaging. The 4th is the hardest.

1️⃣ Give the task.
2️⃣ Give clear instructions.
3️⃣ Give a deadline.
4️⃣ Step back.

That last one sounds easy…until you actually have to do it.

Stepping back means not sending “Just checking in” three times a day.

It means trusting someone to do the work without watching every step or correcting every little detail.

Because when you constantly jump back in, you’re not giving your team ownership, you’re teaching them to wait for your approval.

Then you wonder why they aren’t taking initiative.

You can’t build an independent team if you never give them room to be independent.

Set the expectations. Agree on when to check in. Be available when they need you.
