Honored to have one of our instructors teaching trauma awareness to a great organization that does incredible work.

Today, our Adventure Bags staff and student volunteers from our Student Volunteer Program had the opportunity to attend a Trauma-Informed Training facilitated by Scott Dakin, President of Critical Incident Consulting.

This training provided valuable insight into how we can better understand, support, and serve children and families who have experienced trauma. It also helped us reflect on how we interact with and support our volunteer base, ensuring we create a welcoming, compassionate, and trauma-informed environment for everyone who joins us in our mission.

As we continue providing a sense of security and comfort to children in crisis, opportunities like this help equip our team to serve with greater compassion, awareness, and care.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Scott for taking the time to invest in our team and share his knowledge and expertise with us.

Together, we are growing, learning, and continuing to serve Georgia’s most vulnerable children — one bag at a time. 💙🎒

This week we taught another CISM class. Thanks to DPH for hosting it for us. These folks were very grateful to learn. They participated in the role plays and learned how to lead a group or talk one on one. They are already working on building teams. Thankful for our instructors that work hard to build the passion in our students.

This week we are in Oconee County teaching GRIN for DPH. People from around the area are learning how to help those dealing in crisis. When are you taking the class?

This week we were in Barrow County teaching GRIN. Great mixture of Public Safety, mental health, and even someone who works a lot with teens. We have a class in Athens May 20-22 if you want to register.

The memories of trauma can be very overwhelming and can be very intrusive on your daily life. It can create complex ptsd when responding to call after call. Seeking help is okay. Finding a good trauma counselor can be difficult but worth it. When looking for one ensure they are trauma based. If the first one doesn’t work for you, don’t quit. You are strong enough to get help and healing is a possible.
