A difficult transition every entrepreneur eventually faces:

The strategies that built the business… stop scaling it.

In this week’s Leadership Huddle, Giovanni Gonzalez explored what happens when leaders continue operating from effort while the business is asking for design, systems, and deeper listening.

Key reflections:

* Founders often become the bottleneck of growth
* Effort scales early; leadership scales later
* Businesses plateau when everything depends on the CEO
* Sustainable growth happens when the business develops people—not just profits

The real shift is not from small business to big business.

It’s from operator… to architect.

“Even the pawn can become a queen.”

There is something deeply powerful in that reminder.

Because sometimes leadership does not begin with feeling powerful.
Sometimes it begins with refusing to give up.

One step.
One move.
One decision at a time.

The pawn does not become a queen by staying still.
It becomes one by continuing to move forward, even when the board feels uncertain.

And perhaps that is where transformation begins…

Not in seeing yourself as already arrived,
but in becoming the kind of person who keeps moving.

What move are you willing to make today?

05/20/2026

There’s a moment in leadership where perspective becomes the move.

Orrin “Checkmate” reminds us that life does not begin when we win the lottery.

It begins when we recognize we already did.

Every day we wake up, we receive another board.
Another chance.
Another move.

And perhaps the most powerful leaders are not the ones waiting for luck…
but the ones creating possibility from the life already in their hands.

There are moments in leadership when the next level is not created by a bigger strategy…

but by a different move.

This Monday, May 18, at The Leadership Huddle, we’ll be joined by our special guest, Orrin Checkmate, for a conversation around one powerful question:

The moves you make determine the path you take.

Because leadership is not only about where you want to go.
It is about the choices, conversations, and commitments you are making today.

Dr. Monikah Ogando on emotional regulation, power, and cultural temperature.

Emotional regulation is not suppression.
It is competence.
It is curation.

And when you are a high performer, especially if you are a woman or a person of color, that distinction can get complicated.

Because sometimes code-switching is not just about verbal language.
It is also about reading the cultural temperature of the room.

The message often sounds like:

“Be yourself…
but not so much that people feel uncomfortable.
Speak up…
but don’t call people out publicly.
Be authentic…
but stay palatable.”

That is where emotional regulation becomes more than self-control.
It becomes strategy.

We have a different relationship with public accountability, power dynamics, and what it means to take up space in rooms that were not always built with us in mind.

Regulation is not about shrinking yourself.
It is about knowing when to pause, when to speak, and how to protect your power without giving it away.

As Dr. Monikah Ogando reminds us…

Authenticity is powerful.
But authenticity without calibration can become oversharing.

In leadership, being real does not mean bringing every emotion into the room without discernment.

It means knowing yourself deeply enough to choose what serves the moment, the team, and the work.

The workplace is not therapy.
It is a coordinated performance environment.

And the strongest leaders understand the difference between being authentic…
and being unfiltered.

Because true authenticity is not about saying everything.

It is about expressing who you are with awareness, responsibility, and intention.

Where in your leadership could authenticity use more calibration?

05/13/2026

As Dr. Monikah Ogando reminds us…

The strongest leaders do not wait for the world to define them.

They understand that identity is internal.
Self-assigned.
Self-authored.

Someone may have an opinion of you.
A judgment.
A perception.

But that is not your identity.

You decide who you are.

And from that place, your communication becomes more powerful—
because you are no longer performing for approval.

You are expressing with intention.

A leadership distinction worth considering:

𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁.

In this week’s Leadership Huddle, hosted by Dr. Monikah Ogando, we explored one of the most common leadership misunderstandings:

Believing that honesty alone makes communication effective.

Key reflections from the conversation:

* Emotional unloading and authentic leadership are not the same thing
* Leaders are responsible not only for intent, but impact
* Presence and regulation strengthen trust
* Honest communication without awareness can erode psychological safety

The question is not only:
“Am I being honest?”

It’s:
“What is the way I am speaking creating?”

What if the biggest mistake leaders make about authenticity is thinking it means saying everything they feel?

“I’m just being real.”
“This is just who I am.”
“I prefer to say things directly.”

But leadership and emotional unloading are not the same thing.

Authenticity is not a license to react.
It is the ability to speak with honesty while also leading the impact of your words.

The real question is not only:
“Am I being honest?”

It is:
“What is the way I am speaking creating?”

As Lily Winsaft teaches…

Your breath can reveal more than your stress level.

It can reveal your relationship with receiving.

Many people speak about manifesting abundance
more wealth, more love, more health, more opportunity.

But then their inhale is shallow.

And the inhale matters.

Because inhaling is not only a physical act.
It is the body’s practice of receiving.

When the inhale is restricted, the body may be living in protection, control, or fear
even while the mind is asking for expansion.

So before asking life for more, pause and notice:

Can you fully receive the breath that is already available to you?

That may be the first doorway.

05/07/2026

As Lily Winsaft reminds us…

What we don’t let go of doesn’t simply disappear.

It stays.

In the body.
In the nervous system.
In the way we react, protect, and move through life.

There’s a reason people say, “the issues are in the tissues.”

Because sometimes healing is not about understanding more.
It’s about releasing what we’ve been carrying for too long.

So here’s a simple question to sit with today:

What are you still holding onto that your body is asking you to let go of?
