"I made the shadowbox in memory of Hercules. He was an 18 year old horse, assigned to the Atlanta Police Department Mounted Patrol. He passed away August 2022. Hercules was trained to be a police horse, at Angola State Prison, in Louisiana.

The main purpose of the horses assigned to the Mounted Patrol, is to be a 'bridge' between the community, and Police Officers. Even if someone doesn't like the police, most will still come out, and talk, just because they want to see, or pet the horse.

We constantly have visitors at the Mounted Patrol barn. Hercules was always the crowd favorite. He was more than 6ft tall, at his withers (shoulder). He weighed over 2,000lbs. He was a handsome white horse. He was so strong, it looked like he worked out at a gym.

Hercules was the kindest, giant teddy bear of a horse. He is very missed."
