There are two big changes you can make in order to stop 1, 2 AND 3 from happening...

1- I stopped laying with them until they fell asleep
Because needing you to fall asleep at bedtime usually means needing you again at 2am.

2- No more sneaking out like a bedtime ninja
Because disappearing actually creates more hyper-vigilance and bedtime anxiety.

3- I avoided threatening consequences out of exhaustion
Because fear might stop the behavior temporarily…but it doesn’t build independent sleep skills.

4- “Just one more...?” Never again!
Because toddlers repeat what works (meaning if they get “one more book” tonight, they’ll expect it tomorrow) and bedtime quickly becomes a negotiation...every night.

5- I knew better than to hope it was “just a phase”
Because most ongoing sleep struggles are actually learned sleep habits.

Here’s what changed everything for us once I really cracked the code on toddler sleep:

My child stopped relying on ME as the thing that made sleep happen. That’s the foundation of my REST Method® for big kids.
