UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST: REQUESTED PHOTO SUBMISSIONS

(Lengthy post but I believe worthy of the read)

As you may recall, I had previously requested (12/14/2024) that some of my firefighter brothers and sisters provide me with some photos so that I could do some research and testing for implementing a new product/service of my business.

Although my newly found work is not perfect, I believe that I have at least laid a descent foundation. This work was very tedious and laborious! I have been researching, TESTING and developing laser engraved portraits on wood!

What you are about to see are the results of my foundational work. If your photo submission does not appear here, rest assured I made great effort at an attempt. All of the photo submissions were great, just some had better resolution than others. I thank and greatly appreciate all of those that submitted photos!

I would also like to thank Darleen Prem for her encouragement, love, friendship, and photo contributions for my efforts. In all my years, I have only witnessed once, the work of a professional photographer that can literally capture on film the soul of both animate and inanimate subjects. That rare and lone photographer is Darleen Prem!

All of the subjects of my wooden laser engraved portraits are firefighters from the Cherokee County (Georgia) Fire Services with the exception of one. The lone portrait was designed for a dear friend in memory of her recently deceased mother.

These portraits are representative of stellar leadership, courage in the face of death, bravery in the call to action, integrity in the ex*****on of duty, knowledge to get it done, skillfulness to make sure it is right, lightheartedness to ease the pain of tragedy, and the unwavering virtue of putting others before self, even if the cost is the giving of one’s life. My son, Justin Hicks, was their brother and served beside them. These are but a few of many more like them that minute by minute serve the citizens of Cherokee County.

Attention firefighter brothers and sisters. Most of you know I own a woodworking business.

That being said, I am in the process of experimenting and testing with a woodworking project for a new product to offer.

Great news!! You can help!! If you have a photo of yourself in full turnout gear or dress uniform please consider sending it to me via email (please include your name, rank, and station number).

Also, if you have one with an awesome background (fire in the background, smoke, fire vehicles, action scenes etc.) all the better! The higher the resolution the better but all submissions will be considered.

Unfortunately, not all will be chosen, but if yours is chosen, I will give you the finished product at no cost for helping me out.

If the testing and experimenting goes well, I will have another product to market with nearly endless options!

This November 18 will mark three years since my son, Justin's, horrific murder. I've never been one to overly reveal my inward emotional state publicly, but this year something seems different.
It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, how much I love and miss him. The hole that has pierced my heart is a forever wound. The missing piece is very much palatable.
I began teaching Justin the enjoyable and fine art of bass fishing when he turned four years old. The teaching stuck and we fished together up to his death. We were notorious for sharing mushy songs between us that spoke of our relationship and feelings toward each other. We even had our special playlist we had to listen to on the way to the fishing hole early in the morning.
We were/are indubitably buddies, in general, fishing, and ministry (he had a genuine evangelistic heart) and otherwise.
Sometimes God bestows upon us special blessings. I like to call them "God Winks." I had a "God Wink" moment a few minutes ago. He (God) allowed me to hear Justin's voice again through song by reminding me of one that is several years old. This song is the portrayal of a conversation Justin and I would have from heaven to earth and earth to heaven.
I just wanted to publicly honor my oldest son and reaffirm my love for Justin. I look forward to our reunion soon in the presence of Jesus.

It was my great honor and pleasure to be able to complete work for the "3rd Annual Eagle Bearer Corn Hole tournament" hosted by Jacob's Pathway Foundation! A total of 12 tournament spec corn hole boards were built to include the sponsorship graphics! Thank you Jacob's Pathway Foundation for reaching out to me for this opportunity! I'm looking forward to the 4th annual event next year!!
