I had the pleasure of attending the Black Prosperity Conference 2030 in Macon this Monday, hosted by the Georgia Coalition of Black Chambers.

It was a powerful convening of chamber leaders, stakeholders, elected officials, and small business owners, all focused on advancing the path forward for Black businesses across Georgia.

A special shout out to Dr. Monica Wills Brown, Ph.D. for her outstanding facilitation, particularly her engaging conversation with Ron Busby Sr., President of the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc., on the “Blackprint” and strategies for economic growth.

I also had the honor of serving on the procurement panel, facilitated by Montina Young Fraiser , alongside Charise Stephens from the Office of Small Business in Macon. It was a meaningful discussion on creating access and opportunity for small businesses in public and private contracting.

Grateful to be part of these conversations and collaborations. I’m looking forward to next year’s conference as we continue to track our progress and impact.

We were honored to have Dr. Bernice King join the Atlanta Black Chambers Tuesday Talks virtual roundtable, hosted by our President and CEO Mr. Melvin M. Coleman, MBA.

With over 300 participants on the call, Dr. King shared powerful insights rooted in the legacy of her father, including reflections on his work with Operation Breadbasket during the late 1960s.

She also encouraged us to revisit his 1967 speech, Where Do We Go From Here, which remains just as relevant today as it was then.

The conversation was both timely and impactful, offering a meaningful reminder of the role we all play in advancing economic empowerment and collective progress.

On behalf of the Atlanta Black Chamber and as a member of the Board of Directors, I extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. King for sharing her time, wisdom, and continued commitment to the community.

I had the pleasure of attending the Black Mayors’ Reception at the historic Macon Terminal Station, hosted by the Georgia Coalition of Black Chambers (GCBC). It was truly an inspiring evening filled with leadership, connection, and a shared commitment to advancing our communities across the state.

Grateful to see so many Black mayors in attendance, including my hometown mayor, Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick, who continues to represent with excellence.

It was also an honor to be in the room with gubernatorial candidate Michael Thurmond and Mr. Ron Busby, President of the U.S. Black Chambers, whose leadership and presence added even greater significance to the evening.

Moments like these remind me of the power of collaboration, representation, and intentional leadership.

Excited to facilitate this week’s Bid & Contract Readiness Workshop in partnership with Accelerate Augusta.

Accelerate Augusta, launched by Augusta Technical College, is an entrepreneurship hub designed to support small businesses and startups through training, mentorship, and access to resources that drive sustainable growth. Since its grand opening in downtown Augusta, it has quickly become a key space for equipping entrepreneurs with the tools they need to scale and compete.

I am looking forward to working with small business owners to strengthen their capacity to pursue local, state, and federal contracting opportunities.

I enjoyed the Atlanta Black Chambers’ very first gala last night.

A special shoutout to Wendy Taylor, Gala Chair, and the entire planning team for a job well done. Their hard work and vision made the night memorable.

Congratulations to Venue2Go on being selected as Business of the Year, and to Shirley Xavier for receiving Member of the Year!

The MCs, the fabulous Shizelle Small-Martin and Richard Case, kept the energy high and the program flowing seamlessly! Thanks to our keynote speaker, Commissioner Angelina Johnson, for delivering such an inspiring and powerful message.

It was an inspiring night celebrating excellence, community, and the continued growth of Black businesses. I am looking forward to the next gala.

It was a great evening in Valdosta, GA with the Southern Georgia Black Chambers for our Procurement Readiness Workshop!

We had an incredible turnout of 40+ small business owners joining both in-person and virtually for this hands-on session focused on ex*****on…not just information.

During the workshop, we walked participants step-by-step through the SAM.gov registration process, breaking down what can often feel like a complex and overwhelming first step into government contracting. We also covered:
✔️ How to develop a strong, effective capability statement
✔️ How to apply a Go/No-Go decision framework when evaluating contract opportunities

The energy in the room was strong, the engagement was high, and most importantly, businesses left with real progress toward becoming contract-ready.

A sincere thank you to President H. DeWayne Johnson and the South Georgia Black Chambers for the invitation and continued commitment to building capacity within the small business community.

Looking forward to continuing this work and supporting South Georgia businesses as they move from readiness to results.

I had a great time at ATL Next Industry and connected a lot of people doing impactful work across Atlanta.

It was also great to be a part of the celebration recognizing 100 years of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. Awards Luncheon and honoring his legacy and the businesses that have succeeded as result of the work that he has done in the city of Atlanta.

Lots of great conversations, new connections, and opportunities ahead. Looking forward to what comes next.

Let’s work!

The Southern Georgia Black Chambers 2026 Small Business Academy continues tomorrow! We are thrilled to welcome Crystal Spellman (Founder & CEO of Spellman Consulting Group, LLC, LLC) as our Phase 3 Lead for the 2026 Small Business Academy.

With over 20 years of project management expertise and a track record of helping businesses secure multi-million dollar contracts, Crystal is bringing the "Contractor Mindset" to Room 3126 at Valdosta State University - VSU Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business.

Why tomorrow is a "Must-Attend" Lab:

✅ SAM.gov Activation: Live technical setup to acquire your UEI and CAGE Code.
✅ The Go/No-Go Logic: Learning how to filter the right opportunities for your capacity.
✅ Capability Statement Build: Drafting the professional "Business Resume" required for every federal and municipal bid.

🗓️ IMPORTANT SCHEDULE NOTE:

We are meeting TOMORROW (Thursday, March 26) instead of our usual Tuesday. We will return to our regular Tuesday schedule on April 7th with Stephanie Johnson for AI Integration.
