Consumers are often concerned when they see their credit score drop while going through the process of credit repair, and today we’re going to tell you why it typically happens.
Many consumers opt to dispute long standing credit accounts when going through credit repair. This can be for a few reasons such as they were added as an authorized user to a spouses credit cards without their knowledge or consent, an account was opened in their name, paid on for a bit of time, then late payments became the normal or they just didn’t pay on them at all after maxing them out. These are just a couple of examples of why a consumer would, and could dispute entire accounts however, when entire accounts are disputed, the credit utilization, payment histories, and account histories all become null and voided if the account that is disputed gets removed resulting in leaving it to any remaining accounts that may have less age, may have more utilization, or may have a few cases of late payments reporting to base the credit scores off of.
