October is National Pastor Appreciation Month! Throughout the month, Truth. will be highlighting pastors who have made a profound impact on the vision of Marketing Truth, LLC.

Today, we honor PASTOR DAN BACKENS, Founding Pastor of New Life Providence Church.

I attended New Life Providence Church while pursuing graduate studies at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and I absolutely LOVED IT! From day one, this church left a lasting mark on my life.

It was the first multiethnic church I attended that embraced and demonstrated ALL the spiritual gifts within the Body of Christ, equally valuing individuals in their unique callings and giftings. The diversity of the congregation was also reflected in its pastoral and ministerial staff. Beyond that, the people were incredibly sincere, with some of the purest and most genuine hearts I had encountered.

New Life Providence Church introduced me to God’s Theophostic Healing through soaking prayer, prophetic training and appointments, and my very first small-group Bible study. It was also a place where I learned to recognize and experience divine encounters through the audible voice of God, circumstances, environments, people, the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, and discernment.

During that season, I grew in my understanding of the Father’s love and affirmation and experienced a heavenly paradigm shift from simply thinking with a spiritual mindset to truly walking in sonship.

Most importantly, this is where I truly received the Father’s love. As I completed my graduate school journey, I was sent off with a blessing, a meaningful moment that remains close to my heart.

It was also during this season that I developed business plans for my various ventures while attending classes and received what I understood to be God’s stamp of approval on the vision He had placed within me.

I will forever be grateful for the role New Life Providence Church played in my spiritual formation, personal growth, and the development of the vision behind Marketing Truth, LLC.

Pastor Dan Backens, thank you for your leadership and for the spiritual environment cultivated at New Life Providence Church. The seeds planted during that season continue to bear fruit in my life and in the vision I carry today.

October is National Pastor Appreciation Month! Throughout this month, Truth. will be highlighting pastors who have made a profound impact on the vision of Marketing Truth, LLC.

Today, we acknowledge BISHOP WILLIAM L. BONNER, Founding Pastor of Refuge Temple Church in Columbia, South Carolina.

As a little girl, my family and I would visit Refuge Temple in addition to the church
in which we were members, as my mother attended the church’s Bible College as a Bible Student. While she was a Bible College student, she taught aerobics classes during their Summer Vacation Bible School and brought my sister and me to attend the weekly Friday night services.

At the time, our home church had recently moved into a new building, and its baptismal pool was not yet in use. However, Refuge Temple was conducting baptisms, so my sister and I were baptized in its baptismal pool by Bishop William L. Bonner. My mother wanted us to be fully immersed in water when we were baptized, just as she had been when she was immersed in the Withlacoochee River in Barrets, Georgia.

Refuge Temple was also the first church where I witnessed the gift of tongues and where my sister and I were taught how to tarry for the gift of the Holy Ghost during the Friday night services. I affectionately referred to Bishop William L. Bonner as my grandpa.

These experiences took place during one of the most tender and formative seasons of my walk with God. As a little girl, I was beginning to take my faith seriously, growing in my understanding of God, and catching glimpses of visions concerning the things I desired to accomplish in my future.

Looking back, I recognize how meaningful these early spiritual experiences were in laying a foundation for my faith and shaping the vision that would continue to unfold throughout my life. What may have seemed like simple childhood experiences were, in many ways, formative moments in my spiritual journey.

Today, I honor Bishop William L. Bonner for the role Refuge Temple Church played in my spiritual upbringing and for the memories that remain a meaningful part of my testimony.

Today, we acknowledge DR. DEXTER EASLEY of New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

Joining New Life Christian Fellowship as an undergraduate student at the College of Charleston was a significant step in my spiritual journey. It was my first time joining a church independently, away from home. Prior to finding a church in the area, I was attending a small Bible Study led by a Minister who worked on the campus at the College of Charleston, Minister William Blakeney. He was a solid mentor and encourager to many students on the campus, and ministered to the members of my student led dance team that I led on campus.

During my time in the ministry, I experienced healing, freedom, and rapid spiritual growth. At the time, I didn’t fully realize how much this season was preparing me for what was ahead.

During my senior year at the College of Charleston, I was accepted into Regent University for graduate school and was sent off with Dr. Easley’s blessing.

Looking back, I can now recognize how God was preparing me for my next season. The vision for Marketing Truth was birthed during this journey, even before I developed the business plan at Regent University.

What began as a season of spiritual growth became part of the foundation for a vision that would continue to unfold in the years ahead.
