Happy Birthday, Legend!

Today, we celebrate the Honorable Bob Marley. Bob Marley was not only a musical legend, he was as a global voice for people whose stories were too often overlooked.

Marley used his art to "critique the ‘destructive social forces’ of the modern world’ [and communicate] to those rendered powerless by systems in the Global North and encouraging them to 'challenge existing power relations' (Findlay, 2020)." His music became a channel for awareness, unity, and collective action. Marley inspired movements from Kingston to Australia, Zimbabwe, and beyond.

At Findlay House Global, we see Marley’s legacy as a reflection of what it means to re-power communities: creating space for people to understand their own power, tell their own stories, and lead their own change.

This Black History Month, we honor his spirit — one that reminds us that change begins when people are heard, seen, and connected.

Some stories never leave us. They become the reason we act.

Today, on the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, we honor the life and legacy of Nyamburi Marwa, a Tanzanian social worker whose courage laid the foundation for one of our partners—Tanzania Youth Espouse for Gender and Development (TYEGD).

After surviving forced FGM and fleeing her home, Nyamburi began rebuilding her life. She shared her story and organized women facing similar challenges, so together, they could heal in community. Her steady bravery inspired others.

Although Nyamburi's life was tragically cut short, the impact she made lives on through TYEGD and the five youth leaders who built the organization in her memory.

Today, TYEGD continues to carry her vision:
→ educating women and girls,
→ challenging harmful gender-based practices,
→ and building power through community groups and youth leadership.

At FHG, we are honored to link arms with TYEGD in this work. Their mission reminds us that real change begins with people like Nyamburi. People who are not afraid to turn lived experience (even painful lived experience) into purpose and collective action. People who leave the world better than they found it.

🕊️ May her story continue to spark action.

Today, on what would have been his 97th birthday, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—a visionary who understood that sustainable change begins not only with protest, but with the transformation of hearts, systems, and norms.

Dr. King modeled what it means to reframe what's possible, challenge unjust power structures, and move people toward collective action rooted in love. He not only held "America" accountable by pointing out her hypocrisy, he also dared her to live out her deepest values in a truly equitable way.

Dr. King's work reflects what we now understand as social and behavior change: shifting narratives, reshaping norms, and centering internal motivations. Ultimately, inviting a nation to create space for deeper connection and transformation.

At FHG, we see his legacy as a living case study...proof that LOVE Is An Effective Strategy, not just a feeling. Proof that when people are re-powered to act with courage and compassion, hearts and entire systems can shift.

🕊️ We move forward in his spirit, continuing to build people-centered change rooted in dignity, self-determination, and love.

Social and Behavior Change (SBC) is a people-centered approach that goes beyond messaging. SBC prioritizes understanding why people act, NOT telling them what to do.

At FHG, we use SBC to inform our work, which includes everything from youth mental health to civic leadership. It's one of the ways we ground our work in each community's unique context, culture, and lived experience.

Curious about embedding SBC into your strategies? Let's talk.

At FHG, we don’t "empower" people and communities, we RE-POWER them. Because people don't need permission.

To re-power means to reignite the sense of self-determination, agency, and leadership that already exists within each person. It’s about removing barriers and walking with people as they shape the future as drivers of change, not just as passengers in the process.

New year. Same commitment to people-centered development.

Bridging the gap between intention and impact means more than well-designed programs — it means building trust, strengthening local leadership, and creating systems that last beyond any single project cycle.

In 2026, our focus remains on development that is led by communities, supported by strong institutions, and grounded in ethical communication.

This is how lasting change is built.

“We’ve Been Quiet...But We’ve Been Busy.”

After a quiet stretch on social media, we’re back — with stories, wins, and voices from the communities we serve.

Findlay House Global has been working behind the scenes to support education and equity to re-power communities across the globe.

We’re excited to reintroduce ourselves and reconnect with YOU — after all, this work is about people.

Stay tuned!
