In partnership with Institute for Strategic Dialogue - ISD / Strong Cities Network, we're honored to have conducted the independent evaluation of the Mayor of London's Shared Endeavour Fund (SEF) 2023/24, now in its 5th year/iteration.

This evaluation approach was identified by the EU and the UN in their "Compendium of Good Practices" for P/CVE evaluation, and is one of the few to have been successfully replicated.

We're proud to have partnered with Institute for Strategic Dialogue - ISD on "The Shared Endeavour Fund: ‎Call Three Evaluation Report:" the second time a set of multiple (21!) PVE projects were able to be evaluated under a common set of measurement tools.

This report represents, to us, a high standard of what's possible in P/CVE program evaluation and reporting. Freely available here:

Michael Quinn Patton is one of the world’s leading practitioners and front-of-field innovators in evaluation. He has more than 50 years experience as an independent evaluator and organizational development consultant. He is the former President of the American Evaluation Association (AEA) and author of eight major evaluation books including a 5th edition of Utilization-Focused Evaluation co-authored with Charmagne Campbell-Patton.

As part of the INDEED International Policy & Practitioners’ Forum (November 15 & 16 2023 | Online) on Advancing Evidence-Based Practice & Evaluation in PVE/CVE/ De-Radicalisation and Crime Prevention, Michael has been invited to provide the Special Event Talk.

His talk will be on “What it takes to make sense of and act on evidence.”

About the Special Event Talk:

In logic modelling terms, evidence is an output. What's the evidentiary outcome? What's the evidentiary impact? What's the process for getting from evidence as output to evidence-based decision-making and action? The mechanism and process for using evidence will be the focus of this evening reflection, including the dangers of misusing evidence.

Key premises:
1. Evidence by itself is relatively useless.
2. Much evaluation evidence and reporting manifests the evil of banality.
3. Policymakers and general citizenry need training and facilitation to understand and interpret evidence thoughtfully and dialogically. 4. Rigor does not reside in methods and measurement; there are no rigorous methods.
5. The global polycrisis requires a different approach to evaluation evidence in all aspects.

Addressing the polycrisis, including extremism, requires major systems transformations. To evaluation transformation, evaluation and the traditional approach to evidence must be transformed.

Come join us for Michael’s talk and 18 sessions you can pick and choose from during the 2-day the INDEED International Policy & Practitioners’ Forum (November 15 & 16 2023 | Online) on Advancing Evidence-Based Practice & Evaluation in PVE/CVE/ De-Radicalisation and Crime Prevention.
