Radon can be found in Georgia bedrock, granite and sand. Radon moves through the ground to the air above, often due to changes in pressure. Some remains below the surface and dissolves in water that collects and flows under the ground’s surface.
Does not matter if your home is new, older, on a slab, basement or on a crawlspace if not properly vent and sealed you can have high levels of radon.
Test your home today! Know your levels of radon gas you and your family are living in.

Radon gas is a colorless, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that's formed during the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. Radon exits the ground and can seep into your home through cracks and holes in the foundation. There are no average radon levels for a specific city, state, or region.
Houses without basements are as much at risk of radon contamination as houses with basements.
It doesn't matter if your neighbor's radon test was low or high, results for your home may be completely different. Call today and have your home tested! 678-832-9785

EPA STUDY RESULTS OF RISK OF RADON EXPOSER

This EPA study show the risks of radon at different concentrations for 1,000 people who smoked and were consistently exposed to a certain level of radon during their lifetimes.

Radon Risks for Smokers:

With exposure to 10 pCi/L, about 71 would get cancer, equal to 100 times the risk of dying in a home fire.
With exposure to 4 pCi/L, about 29 would get cancer, equal to 100 times the risk of dying in a plane crash.

Radon Risks for Non-Smokers:

With exposure to 8 pCi/L, about 3 would get cancer, equal to 10 times the risk of dying in a plane crash.
With exposure to 4 pCi/L, about 2 would get cancer, equal to the risk of drowning.

Acceptable Radon Gas Levels
The Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, recommends you install a system to reduce radon gas in your home if the level of gas is 4 picocuries of radon per liter (pCi/L) or higher. Have your home tested today! 678-832-9785

HOW TO HELP REDUCE YOUR RADON LEVELS:

These steps alone may not reduce levels significantly, but if your level is slightly elevated, these repairs can help make the difference. They will also make other radon reduction methods more effective.
-Caulk foundation cracks, construction joints, and other openings with polyurethane caulk.
-If you have a sump pump, install an airtight cover on it (choose one that allows access to your sump).
-Cover any soil in crawl spaces with polyurethane plastic sheeting (with a minimum thickness of 6 mil, available at home centers) tightly attached to the walls.
-You can also seal concrete, although the EPA has found concrete sealers to be a temporary solution.

HOW DOES RADON GET INTO A HOME/BUSINESS?

The radon gas moves from the rock/soil into a home/business. The gas can seep directly through pores in concrete, the worst entry points are gaps/cracks in walls and foundations. Any home or business, of any age, in any state can have elevated levels of radon gas. It really depends on the way your specific house/business interacts with the surrounding soil/rock. Surrounding homes and businesses radon level may differ significantly from yours.
Testing your home/business from radon is the only way to know whether or not it has unsafe radon levels.

The WRONG and the RIGHT way to set up a Radon test. I recently had to retest a home in Canton, because another company set the test up incorrectly! It is very important to follow the state guidelines when doing a Radon measurement test.
