New South Construction Company Firm History The majority of our projects today consist of repeat business and referrals, proving we have undoubtedly succeeded in our earlier mission.

New South Construction Company (New South) is a mid-sized general contracting firm founded in March of 1990 by Doug Davidson, who serves as President. Since our first project, twenty-seven years ago, New South has believed that service to our customers would provide and establish a path for our company’s future. In the beginning, New South acquired a solid, select and enviable group of clients, which included: Delta Air Lines, The Coca-Cola Company, General Mills and Wesleyan School. Twenty-seven years later, we continue to provide construction services for each and every one of these customers. Today our services cater to a wide range of clients and their needs, these markets include: universities, private clubs, K-12 schools, places of worship, multi-family, senior living, criminal justice, aviation and industrial all of which have helped to round out our company’s portfolio. Our philosophy and principles have resulted in our continuous growth and success, however despite our growth, we remain client driven rather than revenue driven. We continue to provide construction services for the same companies we worked with during our first year in business, which speaks for itself in the quality of work and service provided by our Company.

A new gameday experience has arrived at Doak Field!

Home of the NC State Wolfpack, this multi-phased transformation has elevated the facility for both players and fans. New player-focused spaces include upgraded locker rooms, a team lounge, nutrition and sports medicine facilities, a weight room, and a state-of-the-art pitching lab. Last week, we celebrated the official opening of the Bud & Val Peterson Residence Hall and helped welcome the Class of 2026 to their new home on Georgia Institute of Technology’s campus.

This 8-story residence hall marks the first new residence hall on Tech’s campus in more than 20 years, creating a fresh, modern home for the next generation of Yellow Jackets. We are honored to deliver a facilty that will be home to students for years to come!

The Class of 2026 was our largest intern class yet, and they brought the energy from start to finish! From aviation and multifamily to preconstruction and more, our interns embraced new challenges, built valuable skills, and contributed meaningfully across our teams. Throughout the summer, they gained hands-on experience, took on project responsibilities, and made a lasting impact across the company. We're grateful for everything they accomplished and can't wait to see what they achieve next!
