The only way that selling gets easier and better is by a lot of practice. We recommend that you challenge yourself to reach a higher level in each and every sales call or pitch. You might feel nervous as you do it, but really try to pay attention! You will just get better at accurately identifying the right opportunity to persuade someone at the right time. A great sales manager needs to come up with the best possible results in their team and there are a couple of ways for them to ensure this happens. A solid performance comes from living by example and setting the bar for all other sales representatives to follow. For instance, if you’re a sales manager and plan on attending an internal sales meeting set the tone from day one so you can gain everyone’s respect throughout. Don't just go through the motions; actively participate in discussions, show appreciation for other team members’ efforts, think of creative solutions and promote sharing of ideas with others by helping out whenever possible. Sales managers need others to rally around them - it's important that each member knows that they are respected and valued for whatever insights they may have to offer.

No one cares what you want. It’s about your customer and what they need help with. A healthy business is all about their goals, and in turn, they should be interested in yours too! If they aren’t interested then perhaps you might be trying to strike a deal with the wrong people and it would be better to either find new clients or reevaluate how things are run at your end. Be out there for them to help them thrive because that is why you got into this business right? To help others solve their problems?

Listening is the most important part of social selling

It’s vital to understand that it's where I identify key topics of conversation and am able to use those details to my advantage as I get in touch with my customers. If you want to do social selling well, you need to listen effectively and it starts with becoming an expert on what your potential customers are interested in, how they talk about product features, and how they talk about their needs. One thing’s for sure - your competition isn’t spending time listening properly and you can gain the competitive edge by putting more effort into this area yourself.

This is a great time for companies to get out there in the field and speak to customers face-to-face or over the phone so that they can find new ways to improve their business. Even if your competitors all have an acceptable solution and all three of them claim to be the #1 best in the industry, there's still one thing you can do that they cannot: be honest. Pricing is a tricky beast. It's not quite science and it's certainly not straightforward. But one thing you should be doing as a pricing strategist is adjusting your prices to help drive sales and revenue overall by upping the price every so slightly, while at the same time offering special offers that are limited-time only. An added perk of this is that customers will begin seeking out these discounts in order to maximize their value. In other words, if you give customers something they want enough that they feel like they MUST purchase it at all costs, then you've got yourself a win-win situation on your hands!

Go out and sell your idea to everyone. Practice selling it, even before the company you pitch to hires you. After all, if you were trying to get a job and walked into an interview saying you had already signed up four customers for them, they’d surely pay attention! If a partner understood how much of a salesperson their product manager candidate was, they'd be much more willing to take a chance on them. It's best to come away from a job interview knowing that solutions are as important as talk of innovations since success in any industry depends on making sales in the first place; this is particularly true for product managers.
