Yesterday, my friend Amber "the Activator" did her BIG ONE with her first official Activate LIVE in-person event!!

I remember when it was just an idea. She was so passionate about it being something truly beneficial for small business owners, wanting to make sure that people left with not only information but relevant strategies for their business. To see how this has evolved from the first virtual event to now just makes me so proud.

Now, did she put us all to work... why YES, yes she did! And as she should.

This is how small business communities show up and this is how they are built. We need active participation in bringing visions to life. We need people to cheer us on and tell us to keep going.

We need the lil turn up celebration after. Small businesses thrive from community. PERIODT.

We’re currently working on five website projects.

Three of them are rebrands.

Businesses have evolved and their websites haven’t kept up.

The data tells an interesting story. Desktop users continue to convert at higher rates than mobile users, most websites benefit from a major refresh every 3–5 years, and original content remains one of the strongest ways to build trust online.

When you put those things together, it becomes clear that a website isn’t something you launch and forget.

It’s a living representation of your organization.

There’s something about a surprise engagement that makes you feel every emotion all at once.

The anticipation. The nervous energy. The tiny moments where one person knows their entire life is about to change while the other is completely unaware. And then suddenly, there it is. The shock. The joy. The tears. The laughter. The realization that this moment will forever become part of their story.

Getting to capture moments like this will never get old to me. There’s something incredibly special about documenting people in real time as they step into a new chapter together. Love is such a beautiful thing to witness behind the lens.

There are some moments you photograph where you can feel the weight of legacy in the room.

Last month, I had the opportunity to capture images during Spelman College’s 145th Founders Day celebration honoring Shirley Barber James, C’68, for her lifelong leadership in education, civic engagement, journalism, and community impact. Being able to document moments like this always reminds me that photography is so much more than content. It’s preservation. It’s storytelling. It’s history living in real time.

As someone who graduated from THEE , this one meant a lot to witness behind the lens.

Grateful for the opportunity to capture a small piece of such a meaningful celebration.
