Twice a year furniture manufacturers and designers from all over the world stop what their doing and come to High Point Furniture Market , in North Carolina. It's wonderful to have the opportunity of seeing the beautiful new designs from artisans and visionaries . And in this world of internet shopping, having relationships with sales people you never get to meet in person, this is the chance. I get to share my views on design and what my clients are looking for, while observing where the trend might take us. Many years ago when attending market, I had the awesome pleasure of meeting Edward Brett , he was the President of Arthur Brett Fine BeSpoke Furniture made in Norwich , England. This was one of the best days in my design career!!! I was awestruck by the level of workmanship that went into each design , how much pride was pressed into each piece of wood carved. From that day I began a wonderful , long term relationship with this company. I flew to England to see and meet first hand the amazing people who made these reproductions , made specifically to order and signed by the craftsman who was solely responsible for the piece. It opened up a new world to me and thus my clients who I might say were proud to have any of these in their homes. I say all this because if it hadn't been for High Point , I might have never had this experience, . I dare say there are any manufacturers that share this quality and level of work in their product these days. The markets will not bear it . But hopefully with an open mind and continued sojourn to this place each 6 months , I will have the pleasure of stumbling into another Arthur Brett . I keep hoping!!!!
