Some people leave behind songs-- Dolly Parton left behind a Coat of Many Colors that somehow had room to wrap around all of us.

She taught us that even when life feels like we’re working 9 to 5, there’s still time to dream bigger. That a girl from the Tennessee mountains could become a Rockstar without ever forgetting where she came from. That kindness never goes out of style, generosity is always worth more than gold, and sometimes the brightest light in the room really does come covered in rhinestones.

She gave us Jolene.
She took us to Dollywood.
She reminded us there would always be Islands in the Stream.
She showed us what it meant to be a Backwoods Barbie with a heart bigger than the Smoky Mountains.

And through the millions of books she placed into the hands of children, she proved that her most important legacy may not have been something she sang at all.

Today, country music feels a little quieter.
Tennessee feels a little less colorful.
And the world has lost one of its brightest lights.

But Dolly gave us the words for this goodbye a long time ago:

We will always love you. 🦋

Rest easy, Dolly.
What a beautiful life. What a beautiful legacy. What a beautiful Coat of Many Colors you leave behind.
