Does your job or work define you; or do you define your work by who you are and by your purpose in life? You must realize who you really are and who you are called to be. Until you define yourself, you have no identity and your work will have no purpose or direction. If you don’t know your true identity someone else will give you his or her definition of who you are supposed to be. Without knowing your true identity you will only be defined by the job you do or the social status you are able to attain.
If I were to ask you who you are, how would you answer? Would you say, “I’m a doctor or I’m a lawyer?” Would you expand it even more and say, “I’m a successful businessman?” Is that really who you are? If it is, what happens when you reach the top of your profession or the top rung on the social ladder? Are we here on this earth just to put in our 30 years, receive our gold watch and then retire to sit in a rocking chair on the front porch until we die? I personally don’t think so. I believe we are here for a specific purpose and have the potential to accomplish that purpose in a powerful and effective way.
