We Track Time. We Don't Plan It.

Almost every organization has a system that tells them what already happened. Far fewer have one that tells them what's about to.
Look at how adoption drops across the Time Management category. Time and Attendance sits at 85%. Absence Management follows at 72%, Leave Management at 66%. Then the floor gives out. Labor Scheduling is at 41%. Labor Budgeting is at 30%.

Read that curve from left to right and you're watching the shift from recording work to planning it. Nearly everyone captures the hours. Fewer than half schedule against them. Less than a third budget with them.
Time Management applications are unusual in HR tech: they span past, present, and future workforce data in a single system. Most organizations are only using the past.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11 and honor the families, first responders, service members, and countless individuals whose lives were forever changed.

We also reflect on the compassion, courage, and sense of community that emerged in the days and years that followed.

May we continue to remember, honor, and carry forward the spirit of unity and kindness that brought people together in the face of unimaginable loss.

We remember.

S*x, drugs, and... dramaturgy?

New episode of The Pivot Effect is live! Hosts Teri A. Zipper and Susan Richards sit down with Peter Novak, founder of Strictly Speaking Group, who has a degree so obscure that even the name of it sounds made up! This pivot had so many turns, Susan had to ask if he was also in a rock band.

But behind the laughs is a genuinely fascinating story: seven years in a Jesuit seminary, a doctorate earned by translating Shakespeare into American Sign Language, two decades teaching at USF, and a second career coaching Fortune 500 executives on communication.

Peter's pivot from theater to the priesthood to the corporate world is proof that no experience is wasted, and his take on accent bias and what "confidence" actually sounds like in English is a must-hear for anyone building a global team..

We’re heading to Chicago on October 6 for Cornerstone OnDemandConnect - and there’s plenty to talk about.

AI is reshaping the way we think about work. Workforce strategies are evolving. And the relationship between HR and the business continues to change right along with them.

Stacey Harris will take the stage for a keynote, sharing what we’re seeing across the HR technology landscape - and, more importantly, what it means for organizations trying to make smart decisions in a rapidly changing environment.

Cliff Stevenson will also be on the ground recording conversations for our HR We Have a Problem podcast, talking with practitioners and industry leaders about the real-world challenges, opportunities, and questions shaping HR today.

If you’re at Connect, come find us. Let’s compare notes, challenge a few assumptions, and talk about what’s really happening in HR.

Catch the latest episode of Spilling the Tea on HR Tech!

Stacey Harris discusses Bill Gates’ essay on the dangers of AI. One point she hones in on is why AI doesn't behave like a traditional tech tool: Every model is its own behavior-based entity...

these technologies change on a regular basis, just like a human, and we need to manage them as such. She agrees with Bill that AI is changing things faster than most realize, and it will create a lot of pain in the job market, for our children, and for our economies.

A question worth sitting with: If AI behaves less like a static tool and more like an evolving entity, how should that change the way HR governs it?

On this week's episode of Spilling the Tea on HR Tech, Stacey Harris shared a reflection on Dolly Parton's legacy:

"Dolly was just an idea of how kindness can be utilized in a practical way and, more importantly, in a way in which you are not making other people feel bad... She wasn't the center of it, she wasn't the limelight, but she wasn't going to step behind anybody either."

"We're all in this together. Let's do it as a team." That's the takeaway Stacey and Cliff Stevenson took from Dolly's life, and it's one they believe worth carrying into how we lead, work, and show up for each other.

Hear the full tribute (and this week's HR Tech headlines) on the newest episode of Spilling the Tea on HR Tech.

We’re heading to HR Tech 2026 in Las Vegas! 🎉

As we get ready for the conference, we asked members of our research team a simple question: Why is HR Tech worth attending?

For our team, it’s about more than the sessions on the agenda. It’s an opportunity to step away from the screen, connect with the people working through many of the same challenges, exchange ideas, and have the conversations that don’t always happen in a scheduled meeting.

Our team will be on the ground throughout the conference, participating in keynotes, HR Tech Intensives, and conversations across the event.

One of the highlights we’re especially looking forward to is Stacey Harris’ keynote, where she’ll unveil key findings from the 29th Annual HR Systems Survey and share the latest Voice of the Customer insights on AI, HR technology, workforce transformation, and the trends influencing what’s next.

But some of the most valuable moments at HR Tech happen between the sessions - the quick conversations, unexpected connections, and “how are you handling that?” moments that give us a different perspective and often spark new ideas.

Our Director of Research Programs, Allison Williams, shares why those moments are one of the reasons she believes HR Tech is worth attending.

If you’re heading to Las Vegas, take a look at the agenda, map out your must-attend sessions, and leave a little room for the conversations you can’t put on a calendar.

We’ll see you there!
