Giving you my Take-away from Adam Grant’s book, Give and Take-why helping others drives our success.

Takers are self interested more than others interested.
Givers are others interested more than self interested.
Matchers- if you do for them they will match and do something for you.

What I found most interesting is there are two categories of Givers.

1. Altruistic givers only think in terms of others. They sacrifice themself. They tend to give and give and give. Burnout is a problem so they can not give indefinitely.
2. Other-ish givers think in terms of others but they reserve “substantial concern for themselves, as well as for others. This protects givers from burnout and allows them to give even more over a longer period of time!

Adam Grant’s research indicates that ultimately, Other-ish Givers are more successful than Altruistic Givers, Matchers, and Takers. Fascinating book! Take the Free Self Assessment.
