Hey Neighbors... have you heard of the MSO? Its the Michigan Senior Olympics and the 2018 Summer Games are right around the corner (Aug. 10-19). Events include: Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Billiards, Bocce Ball, Bowling, Cycling, Dancesport, Disc Golf, Golf, Horseshoes, Pickleball, Powerlifting, a 5K, a 10K, a Racewalk, Racquetball, Shuffleboard, a Skills Challenge, Softball, Swimming, Open Water Swim, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, Triathlon, Volleyball, and a new this year... a Power Walk. Many of these Events will be taking place in the North Detroit areas of Oakland and Macomb Counties.

There will be around 1,500 participants competing this year. Participants can also qualify to attend the National Senior Olympics in New Mexico. Seniors participating in the Summer Games have to register by July 20.

Opening Ceremony, which is FREE to the public, will be on Aug. 10 from 6-8p at Rochester’s Bloomer Park. This event will include: lighting of the torch, free food and entertainment for the entire family — including music, face painting, kids’ games, vendor tables, giveaways and more.

Hey neighbors... what sport has the worst name but is considered one of the funnest and fastest growing recreational sports around? Have you guessed it?

Its called Pickelball and yep you can find the number of public courts growing in the North Detroit area. 🥒🥒🥒

With as little as $20, you can pick up a paddle and a ball from your local sporting goods store, join a friendly group who meet regularly and start whacking away.🎾🏸🏓

Hey neighbors... an excessive heat warning has been issued for the North Detroit area for this weekend. 🌞🌞🌞🌡️🌡️🌡️

One way to feel a little cooler is to feel surrounded by water and there's no better way to do that than to head out to your local auto wash, shower your car, enjoy the show and take your vehicle for a spin to dry it off. 😎🚙🚗

Hey neighbors... bicycling is coming back strong in SE Michigan and we live in a great area for all kinds of cycling. Check out these resources for some great ways to get your roll on: Slow Roll, Michigan Mountain Biking Association, International Velodrome at Bloomer Park and Green Cruise.

Also, lead by example and wear a helmet while you're riding. If your kids don't have a helmet, there are some great community events like the one presented in this flyer that are giving away kids helmets for FREE (ROCK it - Rochester Outreach and Charity for Kids).

Hey neighbors... school is coming to an end and carnival season is in full swing. There is one going on right now at the Hampton Village Center (The Target / Best Buy) parking lot on NE Corner of Rochester Rd and Auburn Rd.

We love the carnival atmosphere... rides, games, people, smells, carnies and carnie food.
