Hey Neighbors... have you heard of the MSO? Its the Michigan Senior Olympics and the 2018 Summer Games are right around the corner (Aug. 10-19). Events include: Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Billiards, Bocce Ball, Bowling, Cycling, Dancesport, Disc Golf, Golf, Horseshoes, Pickleball, Powerlifting, a 5K, a 10K, a Racewalk, Racquetball, Shuffleboard, a Skills Challenge, Softball, Swimming, Open Water Swim, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, Triathlon, Volleyball, and a new this year... a Power Walk. Many of these Events will be taking place in the North Detroit areas of Oakland and Macomb Counties.
There will be around 1,500 participants competing this year. Participants can also qualify to attend the National Senior Olympics in New Mexico. Seniors participating in the Summer Games have to register by July 20.
Opening Ceremony, which is FREE to the public, will be on Aug. 10 from 6-8p at Rochesterβs Bloomer Park. This event will include: lighting of the torch, free food and entertainment for the entire family β including music, face painting, kidsβ games, vendor tables, giveaways and more.
