⛈️ It isn't just widespread severe weather that poses significant operational decisions.

Severe thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and evening over parts of West Texas and the South Plains, particularly near the Lubbock/Amarillo corridor.

Huge hail will be the main threat.

The primary challenge is knowing when and where to react.

Due to the nature of today's setup, storms will be growing into severe weather threats late this afternoon, while many outdoor operations, travel corridors, and field crews may still be active.

…and these storms will also create uneven impacts. One office may need to take shelter immediately, while the office next door sees barely a drop of rain.

When this happens, it creates a challenge between taking excessive caution and not taking necessary precautions.

If you have outdoor crews or operate at multiple locations, awareness of the severe threat will be critical on a site-by-site basis.

⛈️ 1,000-mile threat zone from New York to California.
The main threats are damaging winds and hail. The stronger hail signal is in west-central Texas, where a few storms could produce hail larger than golf balls.

Additionally, isolated tornadoes are possible across the entire yellow threat zone. Further east, the issue is storm organization. Storms may develop in clusters or along lines, which means damaging winds are possible this afternoon and tonight.

For organizations with multiple locations, this becomes a timing and communication problem:
🔸 Who receives the warning?
🔸 Who makes the decision?
🔸 How fast can people move to safety?

On broad severe-weather days, site-specific alerting matters most."
