When’s the last time you cleaned your dishwasher filter?

It’s usually a small cylinder under the bottom rack, and a clogged one means food keeps circulating instead of draining out. That leads to dirty dishes, bad smells, slower drainage, and more wear on the pump and motor over time.

Pull it out, rinse it under hot water, scrub off anything stuck with dish soap and a cleaning brush, then put it back. Most manufacturers recommend doing this monthly.

And no, your detergent isn’t cleaning it for you no matter what the bottle says. 😜 That part’s on you — or us.

Happy National Dog Day to our two sidekicks 🐾

Every good handyman crew needs a little backup, and ours comes with four legs apiece.

Sadie is our sweet old lady beagle — she'll steal your heart just as fast as she'll steal your lunch off the counter if you're not watching.

Zoe is our stubborn little blue heeler, and she takes her job seriously. She's boss of the chickens and the goats, and her favorite spot in the whole world is right beside Stephen.

They may not swing a hammer, but they look forward to pats from the crew, and they've gotten real good at collecting abandoned french fries on truck clean out days. Happy Dog Day, girls.

Found some rotten joists under a section of hallway flooring on this one. We replaced the bad framing, laid new subfloor, then installed fresh hardwood — following the same sequence every time, no shortcuts. The hard part is blending with flooring that’s been wearing in for years, but look at this beautiful match!
