Yesterday had a clock on it. Today does not.

The mats are still here. The bolsters are stacked by the wall, and the room has returned to the ordinary work of practice.

No countdown today. The next class will do.

Rest belongs to practice too.

Some weeks have mats, straps, and a room full of people. Some have slower mornings and a little more space around the day. Both can be part of the same rhythm.

You are not behind. Let today be quiet.

The room is closed through Monday, but practice does not disappear with the lights.

The floor at home is still there. So is the wall. Five quiet minutes can be enough to feel your breath settle and your joints begin to answer.

There is nothing to make up while the studio rests. We will be back in the room together on Tuesday.

The door was never locked

The waiting was never about readiness. The door was always open.

Everyone resting in this room just walked in one day. That is the entire origin story of every practice here.

There is no secret handshake and no prerequisite body. Just a mat, some bolsters, and a teacher who has seen every kind of beginning.

Some waited for pain to get bad enough. Some waited for a friend to drag them. Most say the same thing after: I should have come sooner.

This summer the calendar has two more doors. A longevity talk in August, and Ravi's return in October.

But the everyday door matters more than either. A Tuesday class, an ordinary hour, the floor doing half the work.

It has been open the whole time.

Walk in. We saved you a spot.

Stiff is a fine way to arrive

The myth goes: get a little flexible first, then try yoga.

That is backwards. Stiffness is the reason to come, not the disqualifier.

Nobody in this room is performing suppleness. Most people arrived stiff, skeptical, or both.

The method was built for restricted joints. It meets the stiff hip exactly where it is and asks for nothing it cannot give.

If you can get down to the floor, with help from a chair if needed, you can do this practice.

Flexibility is not the entry fee. It is a side effect, and honestly not even the main one.

The main one is a body that stops surprising you in bad ways.

Come stiff. Leave a little less so.

Your first class asks almost nothing

No flexibility test. No level to place into. No keeping up.

You lie down on the floor, and the teacher does the thinking.

The positions are simple and mostly on the ground. If a joint does not move well yet, the practice meets it there.

Nobody watches your pose. Everyone is busy having their own quiet conversation with their own body.

Wear whatever you woke up in, more or less. There is nothing to bring and nothing to prove.

The floor holds everyone the same. That is the whole ask.

Three classes for 45 dollars, or two weeks, your choice. Enough time to know for sure.

Book a first class. Arrive as you are.

Some questions need a room, not a reel

A reel answers fast. Your body's questions do not move that fast.

Why does this side stick. Why does my knee complain on stairs and not on hills. Why do I sleep badly when my hips are tight.

Those cannot be answered in a caption. They have to be felt, slowly, with someone watching who knows what to look for.

That is what the room is for. Presence is the format.

It is also why the two dates on our calendar are rooms and not broadcasts. The longevity talk in August, and Ravi's week in October.

Both are built for the questions you actually have, asked out loud, answered in person.

The feed is a fine place to start. It is a poor place to finish.

Some things you have to walk in for.

October brings Ravi back to Austin

Ravi Kaiut, the source of this method, teaching in our room from October 27 through November 1.

If you practiced with him in April, you know what those days feel like. The quiet, the depth, the way the week stays with you.

A week like this is rare. Corrections you can feel in person, questions answered in the room, not through a screen.

The week opens with intro classes for anyone curious about the method, moves through masterclasses, and closes with a practice intensive over the final weekend.

It is built as a room for questions, not an event to consume. You choose how deep to go.

Early bird pricing is open through August 15. The full schedule is at kaiutyogaaustin.com/ravikaiut

If you have been feeling that quiet nudge to go further with this work, this is where it happens.

Mark October. The room will be ready.

Longevity is a joint decision

Two meanings, one truth. Aging well is decided in the joints, and it is a decision you get to make.

I am giving a talk on exactly this. How Kaiut yoga is changing the longevity conversation, and what that means for your body.

Sunday, August 23, at 10:30 in the morning, here at the studio.

The range of motion you have at 80 is compounding right now, in either direction. That is the whole subject.

We will talk about what the research says, what the practice does, and what a realistic path looks like from wherever you are starting.

It is a small room and a real conversation. Bring your questions. The ones you think are too basic are usually the best ones.

Seats are limited, and registration is on the schedule page: kaiutyogaaustin.com/schedule

I would love to see you there.

What loosens first is not the joint

Before a hip opens, something else lets go. The guarding around it.

Muscles hold a joint the way you hold a full cup on a bumpy road. Carefully, and everywhere at once.

The nervous system releases that grip first. Only then does the tissue follow.

This is why the early weeks of practice feel like calm before they feel like range. The quiet is not nothing. The quiet is the first result.

Students often notice they sleep differently before they notice they move differently.

If you have been practicing for a few weeks and mostly feel settled, that is the sequence working in the right order.

Range built on a calm system stays. Range forced past a guarded system does not.

Trust the quiet part. It is already working.
