I didn't want to go to my networking meeting today. It was raining and I thought lots of people wouldn't be there anyway. But the universe has a way of nudging you in the direction you need to go.
I'm going to a writer's retreat next week. I had originally planned on working on my book, but recently I've been feeling like I needed to be working on client work. I had made up my mind that I was going to work on client work and let the book continue to be that lingering task that I never get to.
As the meeting started, I realized why I was meant to be there today. Mel Cohen of Inspired Authors Press was our speaker.
He talked about the book publishing process and why someone might want to write a book as a business owner. It's all rationale that I've heard before. But as I sat there and listened to him, I realized that what I needed to do at the Writers Retreat is really work on my book.
There are a lot of reasons people write a book:
• To build credibility
• To share their story
• To grow their business
• To leave something meaningful behind
• To organize what they know into something useful for others
For me, it’s this:
I want to help small business owners finally get clear on their message and create more meaningful relationships with their audience. It's not just what they do, but how they say it in a way that actually connects.
Because when your message is clear, your content stops feeling like noise.
It starts resonating.
It builds trust.
It creates trust and real connection.
I accept the universe's nudge and look forward to working on my book. If it helps just one small business owner make a difference in their world, I will feel it was a success!
