To my B2B owners, GMs, & accounting/ finance leads... I have a quick question: Are late payments and manual reconciliation tying up your working capital?

This article highlights that ~70% of suppliers say late payments hamper operations even as virtual cards gain traction (~9 in 10 firms adopting/exploring; 88% using/considering). Virtual cards with straight-through processing (STP) bring reliable, faster funding to your bank and invoice-level detail that matches cleanly, unlike checks/ACH/wires that delay cash and quietly tax your business: extra payroll to reconcile, chasing payments, interest on lines of credit, and inflation. Delay isn’t neutral; it’s expensive.

Common misconceptions that I hear:
“It’s hard to implement.” Often, implementation is more straightforward than expected; many flows plug into existing AR/ERP with light changes.
“Our buyers prefer checks.” Once enabled, many buyers prefer cards (ease + rewards) and will use them.
“ACH is cheapest.” Again, headline fees ignore total cost: staff time, errors, chasing payments, posting delays, borrowing costs when cash is tied up 30–60+ days, and inflation. In practice, that often outweighs a well-qualified card transaction. (There are also ways to lower card costs by achieving a better data/program fit.)
