When people learn I have five disabled children, their reactions range from "I don't know how you do it!" to "I'm so sorry."
Neither response lands right. Because the work isn't what they think it is.
I've written about the shift that changed everything for me as a father—moving from grief about who my children "should have been" to championing who they actually are.
It's not about fixing my kids. It's about examining the beliefs I inherited about disability, worth, and what makes life valuable and fulfilling.
