✨Today is a special day ✨ because a friend’s request to purchase vegetable soup from me to aid them in healing from the flu pushed me to push past worries about pricing and marketing and just DO IT 🚀While launching a healthy meals service would be easier in St. Louis, my hometown, in that I have long-standing relationships and am well respected with a variety of communities and organizations there, I also welcome the challenge of getting to know the Baltimore food + farm 🐓🌱and doula scene more. Plus, my network of friends from around the country weighed in to help me set some prices🙏🏽😊. Where should I be selling in Baltimore + Baltimore county🦀in addition to online?

Chili 🌶️🫘🌽 Season + Sweatah 🍁🍂Weathah. Sunday Family Dinner 👦🏾👩🏽‍🦱🧜🏽‍♀️👩🏻‍🦳was crafted after I rested well, ordered groceries, lifted weights, and laughed w the duo and checked in ab their chores. Getting back to weightlifting after experiencing work abuse and then resigning has been a challenge 😰. A day mostly inside was super important after a v social weekend w rare night life action 🪩💃🏾While cooking, I took breaks to eat, make and drink coffee ☕️ and an ACV concoction 🥼put away a grocery delivery order sent by Mom, clean 🧼 and dance and sing 🎵, of course. Today my Mom needed some quiet time so we opted to drop her meal to her instead of eating together at her place. ✨Mutuality, Flexibility and Care✨ were at play in my doula practice today 👩🏽‍🍳💋. Ta**us Talent in the form of woodworking can be seen here in ‘s gorgeous hand carved and dyed spoon🥄, gifted to me during ✨our season✨ two years ago. Wait, so is this a ramen 🍜 account or a Doula account lol 😂. I call this Ta**us ♉️ Treatment. I happily share my need for all the senses to be fulfilled with my inner circle ⭕️ who I guess are my test kitchen audience for my future clients. Lucky y’all🍀This was dinner for one, one night last week. I took my time crafting it, listening to music and then ate every bite and drop. This is also ✨a post about practicality✨A skill I’ve learned from both of my parents, albeit in different ways. This is regular old cheap Ramen with regular old frozen chicken strips in the air fryer, then cut up, with a regular old eggs 🥚 boiled, and some seaweed and a few other additions like garlic 🧄 , ginger 🫚and sesame oil. My go to fall and winter and omg I’m under the weather 🤧 meal. Practical is beautiful too. 💝

Sustainable Sisterhood is the friendship and professional bond forged by Dail Chambers and Chinyere E. Oteh beginning in 2009. Over the years, we have built, collectives and cooperatives, raised our children together, traveled to attend + lead holistic and Black centered trainings, lived together, grown food and cooked for each other, attended each other's births, and learned how to be leaders in the public eye. We've shared countless laughs and tears, sleepless nights, and raucous celebrations. We have provided platforms for many to launch their careers.

As always, the self work, the mothering work, and the DREAM ACTIVATION continues. This autumn, we are embarking on a regenerative archive intensive where we will begin to organize, digitize, preserve, and make accessible our personal and community arts practices. This includes the work we have done together as founders of Cowry Collective, Yeyo Arts , as birth workers, teaching artists, Chinyere’s personal photography documentarian practice and Dail Chambers' art + cultural anthropology practice.

An emerging librarian archivist, Chinyere will lend her MLIS graduate school training and current repository coordination experience while Dail brings her praxis of sustainable living rooted in memory and community care - a living archive indeed. We will spend several long weekends together in person to slow down to restore ourselves, then we will begin this significant memory work initiative. We will also be launching an 18 month book club and continue researching our Black and Indigenous ancestral ways.

As single mothers, this means that we will be using the funds that we raise to support our needs in childcare, healthy meals, air + ground travel, housing for five, and equipment expenses. We invite you to celebrate our 15 year anniversary of abundant life together through an investment of any amount. In addition to monetary investments, we will gladly accept donations of flight credits, hotel + Airbnb stays and gift cards. We have always embodied care thru many currencies and welcome it all! New York will become the third state, starting in March, where some pregnant women can use Medicaid to hire a doula, a nonmedical health coach who provides physical and emotional care throughout pregnancy and after birth.

The change is part of a 10-point plan by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to lower the number of women who die from complications associated with pregnancy or birth.

New York is set to become the third state Medicaid program to cover pregnancy and birth coaches for low-income women as a way of lowering the maternal mortality rate.
