It’s time to put pressure on Congress to give us a full bag 💰and not half of it.

Mujeres, we deserve it all. We are the future of this country and getting paid 52 cents of what a non-Hispanic white man gets is not only unfair but affecting our community leaving it in disparity.

The trickle down effect of not getting paid fairly is cutting a Latina’s career lifetime pay by $1.2 million. That’s not just one Latina being affected but her generational wealth for generations to come.

VELA Network stands in solidarity with mission to unwiden and fix the Latina pay gap and to get paid. We continue to hold seminars and workshops to help negotiate pay for employees, content creators & freelance contractors. 🗣️

We have a new series coming to VELA where we highlight e-commerce Latinè/x businesses, their passions and our cultures. “VELA Viernes” kicks off with power sister-duo and founders of They are giving away a total of $20K in grants by the end of the year. Apply by 11/17/2022 at 11:59p.m. PST.

We learned their why and how they help Latinas through their platform. We also saw their dynamic as sisters and it was so fun.

Check out our newest episode “New President, Who Dis?” We have received so much feedback from our first episode and how y’all are identifying and feel seen because well we are sometimes if not often overlooked. It’s important you don’t give up.

Especially, when we enter a mostly white workspace or environment we feel like our Hood Girl is lost. We feel like we can’t be ourselves.

In Hood Girl Uprising’s future episodes, we will explore topics such as navigating professional work environments when you come from the hood, what is code-switching?, is it necessary to be successful? the mental stress and toll it has and what does successful code-switching look like until you no longer have too?
