When I think about being voted a finalist for the Aspen Times Best Socialite in one of the most famous ski towns in the United States, I’m a bit dumbfounded.

The word socialite usually describes a wealthy person without a traditional job, famous for attending high-class parties and fashionable events.

This is all true in a way but the difference is, this is my work and I’m the one throwing the parties to bring together the amazing people I meet, and promote them. And yes, I am rich… in spirit.

If this title helps me to continue my work to promote good people doing good things for our valley, and our planet, then I’ll take it!

Thank you to everyone who nominated and voted me in last year and again this year. I’m grateful, humbled and smiling at what this little “socialite” nod really means: you see me out there connecting people, uplifting our valley and doing what I love. So … please keep the votes coming with this new round!

What a blip time is.

We got married on what has been the most beautiful day of the year, every year, without fail, for 28 years, except for one.

Creating Wade’s anniversary present I fell in to all my diaries. I’ve been documenting my life all my life and all I can say is, it’s been humorous in a Grimm’s Fairy Tale kind of way, and it’s a good thing I’ve been documenting it or I wouldn’t remember half of it, and all the beautiful unfolding events amidst the chaos and struggles.

Life is fantastically difficult, for everyone. But it’s equally as awe inspiring and, the more I’m in it, the more I get it.

I’m so very grateful that I found my rock and rolling, mountain biking best friend, but reading back, I have no doubt that I manifested this love, that took way too long to find.

What I know is that it took so long for a reason. I had to live a lot before I landed. And that, I did.

Yes, I’m spoiled, but I spoil back. And yes, I must have done something right in this or another lifetime, and he too,

Life is beautiful with love in it!

I’ve known Randolph since pre-Wade and kids. We once worked 13–14 hour days together on a b**r commercial in a haunted saloon in New Castle, where Randolph was the hand double for Les Paul.

Then Randolph played at Brevitt’s fourth birthday…and somehow, in the blink of an eye, Randolph and Wade were coaching lacrosse together.

And last night, after more than 25 years of dreaming about it, Wade finally got to join Jes Grew and rock it out with all of his friends.

With his beautiful singing voice and years of highly accomplished air guitar, he was clearly ready.

Watching him up there, surrounded by so many people who have been part of our lives through all these different chapters was pretty special.

Sometimes it takes turning 60 to make a 25-year-old dream come true.

Happy 60th, Wade. You finally made the band!! Jes Grew





I especially like “You finally made the band” as the ending—it gives the whole story a payoff.

Happy Birthday Brevitt. I know it hasn’t been easy for you having a mom who drove up to grab your ass from a sleepover after you accidentally texted her instead of your friends revealing what you were really doing, or grounding you for a summer after you talked in your sleep with more big reveals.

Thank you for driving me to meditate over medicate to stop the worrying as you hucked enormous jumps in your slopestyle comps, or worse, ended up in ER from being pushed through a glass door while messing around with Preston Mottier, or saving someone from being punched, or or or … I’m glad that you no longer are “my expensive kid”.

I’m sure we saved tons of 💰 watching your lax games in sleet in May rather than taking me out for Mother’s Day and my birthday. It was good for me to get double nothing. Nobody needs a spoiled mom.

Your Aspen Community School Principal, Jim Gilchrist, always told me not to worry after the numerous times I had to pick you up from his office. “That kids’ going to be a force in the world,” he’d assure me.

He knew! Now look at you, taking over NYC. We are so proud of you!!
