Having had the honor of accompanying my dad on the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight, this story spoke volumes to me. It prompted a flood of tears as I remember Dad, and our trip together.

The story is beautifully written; it sounds as if the Honor Flight organization were prepared for this unlikely event and handled it well. He enjoyed his final days, you cannot ask for more than that. Thank you for your service, sir, and may you rest in eternal peace.

In the final moments of his life, Frank Manchel knew that many people honored him for his World War II service.

I was so happy to celebrate all of the outstanding honorees at the Annual Awards for Business Excellence on March 28, held at Northern Illinois University Naperville.

I am especially proud of my two nominees, Batavia Chamber of Commerce and Batavia United Way. The Chamber works hard to support the entire community, as does Batavia United Way, who worked tirelessly to bring Kane County 211 to fruition.

Two other Batavia Chamber members were honored as well, Orange Home Services LLC Heating & Cooling and Paramount Theatre. Congratulations to all of you!

One of my degrees is in agricultural journalism, so I am forever an advocate of agriculture. The FTC is starting to crack down on offenders. This is a nice summary of some of what you need to know. I found out that some of my innocent social media posts likely should have had a disclaimer as I was talking about something that my client does/has. It is worth a quick read!

As influencer marketing grows in scope and power it's crucial to stay current on the FTC disclosure guidelines which affect your social media influencers.

Turns out there is a new dictionary - one specifically for those of us who struggle with technology terminology. The "Sideways Dictionary" is an incubator project in Google’s parent company, Alphabet, and aims to become the Urban Dictionary for tech jargon.

You can even submit your own analogies.

Sideways dictionary — it's like a dictionary, but using analogies instead of definitions. Use it as a tool for finding and sharing helpful analogies to explain technological ideas. Because if everyone understands technology better, we can make technology work better for everyone.
