We're welcoming a new Leadership Coaching Series and Management Incubator cohort a week after Mardi Gras... and today, Devin is sharing some of the basics behind the Developing Others competency!

This is a key skill for leaders to build, and a vital part of any organization's people strategy. By developing others, you are helping to build a culture of growth and success throughout your entire organization.

1. Holding Development Discussions--
Having regular discussions with your people about their interests, professional goals, and career path opens up a pathway for connecting to the right resources to be successful.

2. Creating Development Plans--
Working with your people to create individual development plans helps to align their personal career goals with the needs of the business.

3. Investing in Trainings--
Creating space for development through trainings, team building, knowledge transfer, etc will catalyze individual, team, and organizational growth.

We go into detail on all of this, and more, in our leadership workshops. Just shoot us a message... one of our consultants will be happy to chat with you about your specific people needs!

Excellent advice...easier said than done...

Avoiding emotional responses is key. In the face of conflict, make sure you are focusing on listening, instead of reacting!

1. If emotions are running high between colleagues who are meeting together, consider scheduling the meeting for another time.
2. If you are finding it difficult to maintain composure in the face of conflict, try to identify and work around your triggers. This will help you to prepare professional & unemotional responses ahead of time, when you're not in the heat of the moment.
3. Prioritize repairing relationships. Relationships can become stressed and compromised during and after conflict. Develop a plan of action that improves communication and collaboration.

With these conflict management skills you can avoid compromising your people strategy with high-emotion reactions to stressful events.
