Current WIP: work in progress

I started this shawl almost a month ago when my husband had a small surgery. It’s a basic repetitive pattern and helped me keep anxiety at bay. Plus I was still able to chat with other folks in the waiting room.

If you’re a crafter, I’d be interested to hear if your craft helps you with anxiety.

Until my son went to school I didn’t know that it was customary to gift teachers something at the end of the year. I decided that something handmade will be received a lot better (I mean, how many mugs do you need? 🤔)

So the one year I made these reversible roll- up totes. I found the pattern online and changed it to my liking.

The totes were big enough to hold a 2 inch binder easily.

As a teacher would you enjoy a gift like that?

When my son was younger I made him a portable racetrack for his cars. While he didn’t enjoy the movies, he absolutely loved all the in it.
Lightning McQueen was his favorite 😊

Over time I added chalk board fabric on one side to make it a little more fun. The downside of that was that it didn’t fold as small 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today’s post isn’t about sewing, but rather about my first love: knitting 🧶

Showing off the by Carina Spencer I wore today at Endless Mountain Fiber Festival. My friend Katy invited me to go with her and we had a blast! It’s a rather small festival so it’s perfect for a day trip.

It is knit in the colorway Fall at Rhinebeck by Itsy Bitsy Knits I think.

Cast on a new project yesterday in lovely fall colors. Any guesses what it will be? 😉

My son was a busy toddler. He never sat still and I always envied the moms whose kids sat down for things like food or crafts. 😂

So I was thrilled when one of the moms in the mom group back in Virginia came up with the idea to make busy bags. I fell in love with these and made several. They are so much fun to make and they last for a long time. The outer fabric is pul (commonly used as outer fabric for cloth diapers) and can be easily wiped down.

Would you gift one of these?

Did your baby have one?

September is national sewing month and I thought it would be a good time to show some of the things I’ve sewn through the years.

And today is our anniversary as well, so this is perfect. My wedding dress is the last project I worked on together with my mom. She designed the dress and pattern and helped me cut and sew it. Swipe right to see a pic of the back. 😊
