An update for our valued customers about our business going forward.
As we move forward in trying to figure out what the future of our business looks like without our son Jack here to help us, we have come up with some big changes to our future plans.
First, we've decided for this year we will only be holding two online equipment auctions. One in April and one in October.
In regard to our online equipment auctions, we are making the following changes to our minimum commission amounts on lower value items:
- New minimum commission per lot of $100 (up from $50). This is being done to reduce the amount of time we spend sifting through large amounts of low value items that are brought in daily.
- New minimum commission on titled motor vehicles of $500 (up from $350). We are doing this to try to reduce the high volume of low value, very dirty and very problematic vehicles that people try to consign.
Some people may say we are increasing our minimum commission to increase our profits. In reality, we are doing this because there used to be three people (Lucas, Andrea and Jack) that did all of the cataloging and photography. Now there are only two, and we have no desire to try to hire a replacement for our son just so we can sell a higher volume of low value items. With the large amount of high value items that get consigned, there is just no practical way to keep up with everything that comes in. We have to cut some other things and it is only logical that it would be some of the lower value items. Before you get upset about this change, please keep reading. We have a solution for you.
In addition to the above changes we will be adding one, but possibly two live equipment auctions per year to our calendar. These live auctions will have the same basic commission structure as our online auctions for higher value items, but much less on the lower value items. Our minimum commission per lot will be just $25. On titled motor vehicles the minimum commission will be $100. These auctions will be completely live and there will be no online bidding and no buyer's premium. At this time we are still recommending that if you have higher value items that would benefit from online bidding and a wider bidder pool that you still consign them to one of our online auctions. Our first live auction will be held on Saturday, June 20th and our auctioneers & ringmen for this first special auction will be FFA students from around the state of Missouri. They will be conducting this auction under the supervision of several professional auctioneers. These students recently participated in the very first Jack Charles Schneider Foundation - Memorial FFA Auctioneer Camp & Contest for Missouri FFA students. Also note that the list of items we do not take on consignment will be smaller for the live auction. You can see more details about this auction on our website and we will soon have more consignment terms posted for this auction as well.
We know many of you have been missing the days gone past when we still conducted live auctions. In addition to the two live equipment auctions per year, we have decided for just the right situation we may conduct a few other live auctions. We will not be doing any general estate work or household type auctions, but for just the right farm auction or collector auction we would be willing to discuss conducting a live auction for you.
We will be re-opening with normal business hours on Monday, March 23rd, 2026 when we will begin taking consignments for our Spring Online Equipment Auction. We will be consigning farm & construction equipment, livestock equipment, trucks, trailers, UTVs, ATVs, lawn & garden equipment and large shop equipment.
We will be accepting items at our auction yard located at 4177 Hwy V V, near Berger until Saturday, April 4th at Noon. We will be open to accept items Monday through Friday 8-4 and Saturdays from 8-noon. Bidding for this auction will open on Thursday, April 9th and close on Saturday, April 25th.
