PFAS aren’t just another packaging buzzword.

These chemicals were historically used to help paper and fiber food packaging resist grease, oil and moisture. But their extreme persistence—and the health concerns broadly associated with exposure to certain PFAS—have changed how regulators, manufacturers and responsible food businesses approach packaging.

The FDA has confirmed that PFAS-containing grease-proofing agents are no longer authorized or being sold for use on paper and paperboard food packaging in the United States. That is meaningful progress, but buyers should still expect transparency and product-specific documentation.

At Green Pond Packaging, we believe sustainability claims should be supported—not assumed. We prioritize packaging made without intentionally added PFAS and recommend looking for credible third-party certifications whenever possible.

Know what touches your food. Ask what is in your packaging.

Twenty-five years later, we remember ~ a day that forever changed our country and the lives of so many families.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania. Standing there is a powerful reminder of the courage and selflessness shown that day, and of the lives that were lost.

Today, we remember the victims, their families, the first responders, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

May we continue to honor their memory with compassion, unity, and gratitude.
