The last Artificial Intelligence session today in Tioga. Today, we pivot from using AI to thinking with AI! Thanks Tioga ND Area Economic Development Corp and Josh Vachal for bringing this opportunity to the region and for allowing me to be a part of it. It was well attended and I’m hopeful that it moved the needle for those who chose to take advantage of this. Looking forward to today and what’s to come! We are ELEVATING!

Thought of the day…

Why does everything at work have to feel like a crisis or a fire?

Because many workplaces have become reactive instead of proactive.

When everything is urgent, nothing is truly prioritized. Leaders spend their days putting out fires instead of preventing them.

The goal shouldn’t be to get better at firefighting.

It should be to build a workplace where fewer fires start in the first place. 🔥

We’ll spend the day busting common AI myths and exploring how artificial intelligence can strengthen—not replace—the human skills that matter most: leadership, emotional intelligence, and sound decision-making.

Excited to learn alongside local business leaders as we explore how AI can help move businesses forward.

Leadership is often revealed in the smallest choices we make—including the words we use.

Listen closely to how leaders refer to the people they work with.

“My team.”

Now compare it to:

“Our team.”
“The team.”

It may seem like a subtle difference, but the message is powerful.

“My team” can unintentionally suggest ownership and hierarchy. It places the leader at the center.

“Our team” communicates partnership, shared responsibility, and collective success. It reminds everyone that we’re working toward the same goals.

Great leaders don’t own people—they serve them. They create environments where trust, collaboration, and accountability thrive.

The next time you’re talking about the people you lead, pause before saying, “my team.”

Try saying, “our team” instead.

Sometimes the smallest shift in language creates the biggest shift in culture.
